Constant Restart on ASUS ROG FLOW X13 GV301RC (Event 41)

Hallo ROG Forum, I'm here to complaint about my problem using my ROG X13 GV301RC. I've been using this laptop for a while and I can't say it was a smooth experience.

This topic has actually been discussed before and I experienced the same issue but haven't found a solution until now. I have been using this product since September 3rd 2023 (last year), and it is becoming a concern because the "Perfect Warranty" for my laptop is about to expire soon.

There is one issue I faced that could be said to have been resolved over time, such as:

  1. My laptop's keyboard lags and only returns to normal after restarting.

This issue was resolved when I tried reinstalling Windows.

However, there are several other problems that have not been resolved until now and are very bothersome. Here are the issues:

  1. This laptop "very often" restarts during use. When checked in the event log, there is event 41 in the event log. Additionally, there are also many errors and warnings.
  2. The USB C on this laptop often has driver troubles. On several occasions, the laptop cannot charge and I frequently have to uninstall and reinstall the driver for the laptop to work normally again.
  3. I have repeatedly experienced the laptop "shutting down" but the machine does not turn off. The screen and keyboard indicate that the laptop is off, but the machine is still on, the temperature increases, and the fan remains active. One time, I accidentally put the laptop in my bag in this state. And guess what? The laptop was very hot and almost burned my hand when I opened it.
  4. Windows Security sometimes cannot be opened.

I would like to ask for help from ASUS and friends in the forum to help find a solution for me.

Issue number 1 is very, very bothersome. This restart happens almost every day whenever I play games. At first, I thought it was an overheating issue, but it doesn't seem to be the case because this problem still occurs even when the usage is not heavy.

This problem has been happening since I first bought this laptop. I thought this issue would be resolved when I reinstalled Windows, but the problem persists.

I live in Indonesia, English is not my first language, your help would mean a lot to me.

Best regards

Hi @Yobato ,

Since you mentioned that the issue persists even after reinstalling the system, I'd like to confirm if you have updated your BIOS to the latest version and tested with the ASUS-verified NVIDIA Graphic Driver Version V31.0.15.4609 and AMD Graphics Driver Version V31.0.12028.2002
Regarding the issues with restarts and charging during use, as your product is still under warranty, we recommend you take your laptop to a local service center for further hardware diagnostics to pinpoint the problem.
Additionally, I'd like to confirm the third point: how do you normally shut down your device? Please try clicking on the [Start] icon on the taskbar, then click on the [Power] icon, and select [Shut down] to see if this improves the situation. Thank you.

Hello @Anbby_ROG ,

Thank you for your response. I apologize for my late reply. I have been busy with real-world work, so I only just had the chance to test your suggestions.

I have updated the NVIDIA Graphic Driver and AMD Graphic Driver to the versions you recommended. I am now on NVIDIA Driver version  546.09 and AMD Windows Driver Version 31.0.12028.2002. Surprisingly, I have not encountered any restarts, either while in-game or during stress tests with AIDA64.

For the answer you've provide about the "Not shutdown" properly thing, of course I've shut down the laptop via taskbar and click the shut down button, but it's still happening. After waiting for a few minutes and noticing that the machine did not shut down immediately, I turned it off by holding the power button for a few seconds. This problem does not happen every time, but it does occur even when I shut it down normally according to procedure. It always happens unexpectedly, without any clear pattern based on my prior actions.

I hesitate to declare the issue fully resolved, as this problem has been troubling me for the past year. I will continue testing and using this laptop to see if any errors or restarts occur.

Another surprising thing is that the keyboard issue I mentioned earlier still hasn't been completely resolved. However, it does happen less frequently than before I reinstalled Windows.

This issue has been discussed previously in this forum:
https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/previous-forum/keyboard-lag-on-2022-flow-x13-gv301re-bad-driver/td-p/8...

For safety reasons, should I just take my laptop to the nearest service center?
And for any other update software, should I just goes to
https://rog.asus.com/id/laptops/rog-flow/rog-flow-x13-2022-series/helpdesk_download/
or can I just update the driver via Geforce Experience and AMD Software?

Thank you

Hi @Yobato ,

Thank you for your reply. Since you mentioned that the device is still under warranty and the shutdown and keyboard issues have not been resolved, we recommend sending the laptop to the local service center for further hardware diagnostics.

The driver offered on the ASUS website is based on the Nvidia/AMD driver provided, and has undergone multiple compatibility tests and verifications before release to ensure the best experience for users. If you encounter any issues while using the latest version of the driver provided by Nvidia/AMD, it is recommended to install the driver from the ASUS website first to ensure stability and compatibility.
