Chronic/Project Issue with Asus Rog Strix G16 / G18?

ibm5155
Level 8

I ask this since I have been suffering with this issue where the system will hang, with a repeated audio being played if something was playing,  battery indicator flashing fast (different from when there is low battery where it flashes slow).

I am out of warranty and also not in the country where I bought my unit but I was experiencing this issue during the period where I was under warranty.

It can happen under load, when idle, and also when the laptop is on idle, and it doesn't depend on the operational system since it happens on both windows/linux.

On my case during the warranty it was way frequent, like, every day I had it, nowadays (after 1  year of usage) it seems to happen every 1 or 2 months.

I say chronic since I have seen this issue in multiple laptops form the same model (g16/g18) and form different countries (like Japan and Argentina)

Due to the amount of reports that I have found, I suspect that asus may already know what is the issue, and with that said, I would like to know, what exactly is this issue, is it something that can be fixed without sending the hardware to repair (like defective PSU or battery) or could it be something more deep, like a defective motherboard.

Since we have alot of reports from all over the world, is it possible to get this fixed out of the warranty, in case it's a project issue?

in regard to my machine, here is the model:
Asus ROG Strix G16 614JI, with 32GB of RAM, 1TB Nvme, 2K display with 240Hz refresh rate.
Feel free to ask any additional questions.

Here are the reports from different users that I have found in regard to this issue ( sorry for pastebin, there ware too many links and the website was blocking the post)

Thank you for reaching out to us. Based on your description of the power indicator flashing rapidly, the device needs to be sent to a local service center for further inspection to determine whether the issue is related to the battery, charger, or other hardware components.
According to the serial number you previously provided regarding the BIOS issue, your device is covered under global service. Although the warranty period has expired, you can still apply for RMA in regions that support global warranty service. We hope this information helps. Thank you.

Hi Anbby, thank you for your response,

Does asus knows what's the general cause of this issue for those specific models?

In regard to RMA, I suppose it is paid, despite me having recordings that it was also happening during the warranty?

This issue may be related to the battery, motherboard, or other hardware components, but the exact cause can only be determined after inspection.

Could you confirm whether you submitted the device for RMA during the warranty period for further diagnosis? If so, please share the RMA number with us via private message. Thank you!

I haven't submitted to RMA during warranty because I was living in japan and my visa was about to expire.

When I moved to my home country I was told I had to talk with the Japanese folks so I kinda lost hope on the RMA

Since the international warranty is only applicable in countries that support the service, we are unable to confirm whether your current location is covered.

Additionally, as your warranty has already expired for some time, if you still require RMA service, you may opt for a paid inspection or part replacement. The above information is provided for your reference. Thank you
