Dear ASUS Support Team / Moderators,
I'm experiencing the well-documented manufacturing defect affecting ROG Strix G16 (G614J) models from 2023-2024: an oversized screw near the left fan causes a short circuit, burning a hole through the motherboard. This issue is widely reported on Reddit (r/ASUSROG), ROG forums, and YouTube repair videos, with identical damage patterns across dozens of cases.
My situation:
- Purchased in March 2024in USA
- Moved to Colombia 10 months ago for work and university studies
- This laptop is essential for my daily programming, academic projects, and gaming
Upon disassembly, I confirmed the exact burn hole characteristic of this defect. The laptop suddenly stopped powering on despite previous normal operation.
I understand ASUS has successfully resolved similar cases worldwide (even outside warranty) through goodwill repairs or motherboard replacements. Since there are ASUS service centers in Colombia, I respectfully request assistance.
I'm willing to cover:
- Shipping costs to ASUS service center
- Any diagnostic/maintenance fees
- Partial repair costs (excluding full motherboard replacement)
In return, I kindly ask ASUS to:
1. Expedite the repair process through a local Colombian center if it's possible.
2. Provide goodwill support for the defective motherboard due to manufacturing fault.
3. Guide me on next steps (PM me for serial number, invoice, and damage photos)
This laptop is critical for my professional and academic life. I'd greatly appreciate your help resolving this known defect quickly.
Thank you,
Juanortizd17
