Hello everyone! I have a Asus ROG Strix G712LW ES74 and my laptops LCD is not working. I can connect an external montior via HDMI as well as the USB C port on the back and I can utilize the laptop. Ill get to the point here. I need to access the BIOS because I added a new m.2 drive for additional storage. The issue is that BIOS will not show up on my external monitor. I have even gone as far as disconnecting the the laptop display, however once the laptop display is disconnected, the laptop wont even enter BIOS. It completed ignores my pressing the F2 key as well as using the Advanced Settings method where I try to force it to reboot into BIOS. It will do it when the laptop display is connected, which does me no good because I cant see BIOS anyways, but when an external monitor is connected and I disconnect the laptop LCD, It just skips any BIOS attempt and goes right back to the windows login screen.
I am really feeling frustrated and would be so grateful if someone could lend me a hand. Even walking me through BIOS to enable an external monitor, if possible.
Thank you in advance!
Sincerely,
NovaSatus

The BIOS display logic is designed to only support the built-in primary screen by default, which means it does not directly support output to an external monitor. If you need to access and operate the BIOS interface, we recommend repairing the built-in screen for this purpose. Thank you for your understanding.

I dont know why the display is not working. There are no cracks. I simply unplugged it when I was refreshing the thermal paste. I have done this many many times on laptops and pcs I have built. I have an engineering degree in electronics and take all of the necessary precautions. It seems odd to me that the cable from the laptops motherboard to the display would have gone bad by simply unplugging it. Where is the switch that detects whether the laptop lid is open/closed? I wondered if that could be the issue.
Can you provide a map for the Bios? I need to enable another m.2 slot that I installed an additional drive in. I want to be able to utilize this in the meantime.
Best regards,

Thank you for your feedback. Given your current situation, since BIOS settings involve many important system configurations, we recommend avoiding making any adjustments while the display is not working properly. This will help prevent any potential issues caused by incorrect operations.
To ensure the issue is properly addressed, we suggest sending the device in for repair and diagnostic testing. Thank you for your understanding.
