Audio Issue

Hey guys I am running out of options here, I got my Zephyrus G16 GU605MY about a month ago and I loved it for the first 3 weeks until I tried to update the audio drivers and do a windows update and after I restarted the audio started glitching and what I mean by that is, its stuck at 100 no matter what the volume actually is or it just doesn't work. Something that is weird is it actually turns the volume down within a app that plays sound. For example, youtube, If I use youtubes slider  it actually turns down my speaker which makes no sense. I tried to take it Geek Squad that did not work, I tried to go to a local shop that didn't work either. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the drivers it worked for one boot and once it turned off it went back to being glitched. I tried to do a factory reset, that didn't work either, others are having issues too and they are thinking about returning them and I'm starting to feel the same. Some said that they think its something to do with windows and the laptop not working together. They have said that ASUS has no idea what to do and I'm wondering if anyone has any solutions?

I'd like to confirm if this issue started occurring within the past one or two weeks? Additionally, have you tried using cloud recovery to reset the system, then temporarily disabling updates to see if this improves the issue?
Please try removing the following drivers via Device Manager, then reinstall them and check if the issue improves. Thank you:

I ran into similar problems around the same time that the OP did, I also have a Zephyrus G16 GU605MY running BIOS 323.

I have:

I thought that the Realtek driver: V6.0.9715.1 had possibly fixed the issue, but the issues (described below) returned about 10-15 minutes into the session.

On my system, every time that I restart the audio appears to be working fine at first, however, if I adjust the volume mixer slider or use the volume hotkeys, the volume stays at the same relatively loud level. And eventually, after running for a few minutes, it sometimes completely stops working. Having the same issues when using headphones via bluetooth as well.

I really enjoyed this laptop the first few weeks I had it, purchased in late September, but the last week or two has been very frustrating not being able to reliably use a such basic function as speaker audio. (Especially given that was one of the selling points for this particular model).

Would really appreciate any additional suggestions that could be provided, I can confirm that I've exhausted about everything I've seen here and other places online barring potentially trying to go back to the previous BIOS which I really would like to avoid having to attempt.

Thank you for your feedback. Could you please record a video showing the issue (including the process that triggers the problem)? After the issue occurs, use the AsLogDump tool to collect the system logs and provide the following information via private message. We will request further analysis from the technical team. Thank you.

  • Serial Number:
  • BIOS Version: 323
  • Windows Build Version: (Settings > System > About)
  • Did the issue occur after sleep or hibernation?

Hello,

I also encountered the same isssue.

If you do not want to reset your system,

1. Please go to officail site to downlond the latest Dolby Atmos driver(it should be V9.710.553.21.7 till now) then install it.

2. Go to Device Manager -> Realtek Audio uninstall the driver.

3. Restart the unit

4. Go to C: ->eSupport-> Software -> driver -> DCH _ Offline ->Audio -> Realtek -> Audio_DriverOnly_Dolby_ROG run install as administrator
