Asus Strix G17 AMD Ryzen 9 7845HX with Radeon high CPU Temp 95°C

Hello,

I'm using ROG Strix G173PV having AMD Ryzen 9 7845HX with Radeon and RTX 4060. I found that my normal CPU operating temperature is above 80°C and while doing heavy workloads like gaming etc, it reaches 95°C.

My question is, is this CPU normal? Is someone with the same CPU having this issue? If not, then can you let me know what is your CPU temperature while gaming or doing heavy workloads like when your CPU usage is 30 percent?

I read that AMD produces less heat but it is quite the opposite.  Please share your thoughts. Do I need to change CPU paste etc?

My  Nvidia GPU temperature is normal like 70°C.

Hi @rashi_3 ,

Have you updated your BIOS to the latest version 329 and also updated the drivers through MyASUS to the latest version?
Please try setting the fan mode to Turbo in Armoury Crate and see if there is any improvement. Thank you.

Yes, all drivers and Bios is the latest version. So this temperature is not normal, right?

Hi @rashi_3 ,

Due to the need for your personal information.
I have sent you a message, please check✉. Thank you

Hello Rashi,

As you know , i have the exact laptop with yours.

My idle cpu heat is around 65c . Ekran görüntüsü 2024-08-17 131932.png

But if i start a rendering or play a game, the heat goes up to over 90. I control my fans and cpu power limits with G-helper so i don't know what happens with asus garbage software.

But i can say if i give more power like 120w, it will fry the cpu.

If you can give me a setting for g-helper we can do same load tests and compare temps.

Note, i guess asus doesnt like me, i always have to verification tests before i can post. and those tests mostly fail.

Thanks for sharing the results, yes it's a pathetic machine.

Here are my G-Helper settings for Balanced mode:

Even the fan reaches 6000 rpm on turbo, but the temperatures stay at 93-95°C
And I'm getting the same bot verifications 😄

Hello,

I did a rendering session with the settings you posted, i only made the fans react a bit earlier and let them go to max speed on 80c.

The cpu is mostly fed around 90-100w and fans running at 6400rpm. Cpu is 100% loaded and hits 95c degrees easily before throttling. However i think these temperatures are normal under this load. If you are experiencing high temperatures on low cpu load then maybe u should check for dust inside the fans first. My cats drop a lot of fur and i sometimes have to vacuum clean the laptop to open the air channels. If it's already clean maybe a thermal paste renewal would do good.

Also, on lower loads the cpu temp is 65c with 20-25w power.

You are right, this is the normal temperature for this laptop on load. I'm not worried much about the idling temperature.
Thank you @Emrezo  for sharing details.

You're welcome @rashi_3. I think this cpu is too powerful to be inside a laptop. It needs to be cooled well to reach it's real performance but the cooling is not good enough in this laptop's case. It always slows down the cpu to avoid frying so don't need to worry about damaging it

Have a nice day.

note : verification failed many times before i can post this 😄 😄 😄 😄

Got it now  😁 . Thank you @Emrezo
