I have had the laptop for about 1.5 years now, and recently, my scar 18 has started to randomly cut completely off and black screen. All power is lost, fans shut off, and even the battery charging/charged light shuts off. It happens when doing graphically intensive things like gaming, but it also sometimes happens when relaunching games after a break in gaming. It is not temp related as it can happen when launching a game at idle temps, which are no more than 55/65 °C. Drivers and bios are updated to the newest versions in MyAsus and in the Nvidia app. Other posts about this issue with the same symptoms I have don't go into solutions, and what might be the cause. Also, it only happens when the laptop is plugged in.
It is also doing it in not very graphics intensive games like Rocket League.

Any additional trouble shooting steps I can go through and check before it would get sent in or is it at the point of needing diagnostics by a service center?

Based on the situation you described, there is a high probability that the issue is caused by a malfunction in the power supply or motherboard components. For further confirmation, we suggest trying a different power outlet or AC power cord, or leaving the laptop in the BIOS to observe whether it shuts down automatically. If the issue persists, it is recommended to send the laptop for hardware diagnostics. Sorry for any inconvenience it may be caused.
