Asus ROG Strix SCAR 18 issue with RTX 5090

Hello, everyone. I have been using a new Asus Rog Strix SCAR 18 (2025) (G835LX) laptop with an Ultra 9 275hx processor and an RTX 5090 graphics card for several months now.

The problem is that when I switch to Ultimate mode, only Nvidia GPU, I have problems with my laptop and the system. Most of the applications I work with crash and freeze, even games, and it is impossible to work in this mode. The problems go away when you switch to Standard GPU mode with Intel.

I have reinstalled the system many times, updated the drivers to the latest versions, downloaded drivers only from the Asus website, took the laptop to a service center, where they replaced the motherboard with the processor and video card under warranty, but nothing helped, it even got worse, now every application crashes and breaks. For example, Adobe After Effects, Comfy UI, and World of Tanks.

Have other owners encountered this too? Or did I just get twice defective units?

I forgot to mention that programs crash and display the error message “An error has occurred with your GPU or GPU driver.”

I came to this forum in search of answers to this very problem. I have not tried to warranty this unit yet as the issues just began. My error is always "GPU Dump Triggered" if I'm gaming. I've also had this unit for a few months. I will return to this post if i find a solution. Very frustrating that a machine with such great capabilities is nerfed savagely by a flaw like this.

Do you only get this error in Ultimate mode (Nvidia GPU Only) like I do? Also RTX5090?

Yes. But it also crashes when I put it in Optimo mode as soon as I fire up a game and my system switches to the Nvidia GPU. In the initial menus I'll watch the GPU usage jump to 48%+ then it immediately either crashes to a black screen or I get the picture below. And yes I have the 5090 version.

Yes, I have the same problem.

Here's what will help solve it: switch Armory Crate to GPU Standard mode, then select "Optimus" display mode in the Nvidia settings, then go to Windows display settings, graphics settings, and uncheck “Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling.” This helped me solve the problem with RTX 5090.

I think there are some problems with the RTX5000 series.

Since you mentioned that you have already tried restoring the system but the issue still persists, it is recommend sending your laptop to a service center to check whether the crashing problem is caused by a cooling system issue.
