ASUS ROG Strix G635LW Locked out of BIOS/Boot Menu After Setting dGPU-only Mode

Hi all,

I'm hoping for some guidance as I'm completely locked out of my PC's BIOS after a settings change.

My Setup:

Machine: ASUS ROG Strix (Desktop/Laptop)

  • Operating Systems: Dual boot setup with Windows and Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.

  • Configuration: SSH access is enabled on Ubuntu, but it is restricted to my standard, non-sudo user account.

The Problem:

  1. I entered the BIOS and changed the GPU setting from Dynamic (hybrid) to dGPU-only.

  2. After saving, my Ubuntu partition now boots to a black screen.

  3. Critically, I am now completely unable to get back into the BIOS or the Boot Menu. Pressing F2, Delete, or F8 during startup causes the PC to freeze on the initial ROG logo screen.

What I've Tried:

  • I can successfully SSH into my Ubuntu user account, which proves the OS is running in the background. However, without sudo, I can't run any commands to fix the issue.

  • I have tried blindly typing at the black screen, attempting to log into a local admin account and run a command to change the default boot order to Windows, but I have no way to verify if the keyboard input is working.

  • Because all attempts to access the BIOS or Boot Menu cause a freeze, I cannot boot from a USB drive or change any settings.

Since all software and keyboard-based approaches have failed, I believe my only option is a physical CMOS reset. I would be very grateful for a reliable guide or advice on how to do this for an ROG Strix machine.

Thanks.

Fixed issue. Remove SSD with Ubuntu then reboot (i left the SSD with windows in) . This forced the BIOS on boot which allowed me to revert the GPU setting back to Dynamic which then fixed all the problems (except still cannot use HDMI output which was the original problem i was trying to fix by changing GPU setting)
