Asus Rog STRIX g15 advantage edition crashing while gaming

Abdulrahman_

I had my laptop for a year and a half, for months now it would shutdown while gaming, recently it’s gotten worse and worse taking less time to crash while gaming, at first I thought it was a temperature issue so I replaced the liquid metal with thermal paste, my temperature dropped a lot to 80-85 while gaming for cpu and around 70 for gpu, after a while it was good but it went back to shutting off, I tried different drivers , different BIOS versions, different windows versions, tried every fan mode, tried undervolting cpu and gpu but to no avail, this problem happens with every game I play (GTA5, Calisto protocol, Call of duty warzone, Baldur’s gate and more).

I don’t know what to do so I am seeking help here before sending it to ASUS technicians.

Hi @Abdulrahman_ ,

Since you mentioned that you have tried many different drivers but the issue still persists, I would like to confirm if you have updated the BIOS to the latest version 331 and tested the ASUS-verified AMD Graphics Driver Version V30.0.13002.13003.

When the game automatically shuts down and restarts, are there any error codes displayed? Thank you.

To speed up issue identification, please provide the product model, BIOS, and driver versions, along with the troubleshooting steps you've already tried to avoid redundant checks.

Hey,

I did use the latest BIOS version and the driver you mentioned, still didn’t work.

No error message appears the laptop just shuts off, sometimes it will go through the light animation that it does when shutting down, and sometimes it would just shut off (like when you unplug a pc from the wall).

But after some testing I found out that the laptop shuts off only when playing a game AND using the charger, I tried GTA5 on max settings and when I pressed apply the laptop shuts down, I then tried it again without the charger and it applied normally, so now I have 2 possible solutions that I will try.

1) I will try connecting the charger directly to the wall (was using a power strip) but I need to buy a plug converter (US plug to British)

2) I will try to change the wire that connects from the wall to the power brick (see image attached)
