Another ROG Zephyrus G14 Random Shutdown Problem

GraveyardGus

I saw this in another thread (https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/gaming-notebooks/unresolved-random-shutdown-issues-after-multiple-rmas... ) but that thread is closed and so I post it here.

I have a 6 month old ROG Zephyrus G14 GA402XY and it shuts off randomly.  When it shuts off, it takes 5-7 tries to turn it back on.  Specifically, I press the power, it lights up the keyboard and the drive light, then it shuts back off.  After doing that a few times, it finally starts back up.

It happens almost randomly.  It most often happens 30 seconds or so after shutting down a graphic intensive game.  However it has never happened during a game. It also doesn't happen all the time, about 3-4 times in a week and sometimes once it happens once it will happen subsequently a couple more times.  It can also happen when I am just streaming a single video and have no other apps running.

I don't think it's general temperature-related because it usually happens when the temperature is relatively mild.  I have run ASUS diagnostics but it never finds anything.  I look at the CPU and GPU temps using Armory Crate and they don't seem to have unusual values when it is acting up.

I sent in my computer to ASUS once to have it worked on and they sent it back to me saying that they couldn't find anything wrong with it.  In short, my problems look very similar to the post I refer to above.

I have 6 months left on my warranty so I'm hoping it breaks more completely and consistently so I can be assured that the service people can experience the problem if I send it in for service.  However, I am not optimistic that the problem will reveal itself more fully in this time.
