2023 Rog Strix G17 (G713PI-DS94) high CPU Temp (96°C+)Causes external Display to cut out.

I have 2 monitors, one connected to the HDMI port and the other to the USB-C port, everything works fine until I start running a game, like Star wars Squadrons or Assassin's Creed origins, first the monitor that is connected to USB-C is disconnected and then to the HDMI one, then I close the game, disconnect and connect the monitors and they work fine. I suspect that it is a problem with the temperature of the processor that reaches up to 96°C. The CPU temperature at rest is between 58°C and 70°C. I have all the updated drivers from Nvidia 546.33 and the AMD drivers are those indicated by ASUS V31.0.14001.46001_33214. Please if you can help me I would appreciate it. I saw that there is another user with the same problem but I can't write on his forum, with the title "2023 Rog Strix G17 (G713PV-WS94) high CPU Temp (93 ° C +) Causes external Display to cut out."

My laptop: ASUS ROG Strix G17 (2023) Gaming Laptop, 17.3” QHD 240Hz, GeForce RTX 4070, AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX, 32GB DDR5 G713PI-DS94

I suggest you contact asus support for this issues as this also was a problem on other AMD laptops with same specs.

You could be wearing out the thermal paste due to the high temps regardless that it's liquid metal.

I have read that changing so that the dedicated GPU takes over doesn't change the issues at all either. You don't want to kill your laptop before it's time (when the warranty ends) 😁

Hi @mpiazzas2024 ,

I would like to confirm whether your BIOS has been updated to the latest version 327. Have you tested using the NVIDIA display driver version V31.0.15.2883, which has been validated by ASUS?

If the issue persists after testing with the NVIDIA display driver version V31.0.15.2883, could you provide the following information? Additionally, recording a video and using HWinfo to log the system could help us further understand the issue. If you have any other concerns, please feel free to let us know.

As some information involves your personal details, please provide the following information via private message. Thank you.

I have already tried installing version V31.0.15.2883 from NVIDIA, and it still has the same problem, it seems that the fan curve in Performance mode is incorrectly configured, since the fans take a while to raise the rpm, until now the Most stable mode is in Turbo.

Today I had another problem, I turned on my computer that was in hibernation state, and I went to have a coffee while it was turning on, I did not see the turning on process, when I returned the 2 external monitors were off and the laptop monitor was off. I turned it on again, it took a while to start, only the laptop monitor and the monitor that is in the HDMI port turned on, the monitor that is in the USB C port did not turn on, I disconnected it and reconnected it and it turned on . I noticed that the processor temperature was at 98c, I go into Armory Crate and I see that the fans are at 0 rpm, to start them I had to change from performance mode to turbo, I tried putting my laptop back in hibernation state, When I turned it on and entered Armory Crate it put the rpm back to 0, to start them I had to change from performance mode to turbo again.

BIOS Version:  327
GPU and Operating Mode Settings in Armoury Crate: Ultimate

Which USB-C port is used for connecting the monitor? Monitor brand and model: I have tried connecting to the 2 USB C ports, it gives the same problem.
Whether G-Sync is enabled: I already tested with G-Sync enabled and disabled, and it has the same problem.
