WPS button doesn't turn ON/OFF LED lights on GT6

Hey all,

I followed this article (https://rog.asus.com/support/faq/1047786/) to setup WPS button to turn on/off LED lights on my GT6. I need this to allow my kids to turn LED without asking me to do that via mobile application.

But instead of turning lights on/off this button is changing style of LED lights/Aura RGB (static > breathing > wave > etc.). Do you experience the same?

Also, one another strange thing - turning LED lights on/off from mobile ASUS Router app doesn't work from first attempt. For example, to turn off LED lights I need to:

  1. tap OFF switch in app -> nothing happens
  2. tap ON switch in app -> LED lights are reset to "static" style
  3. tap OFF switch in app again -> LED lights are turned off.

This is super inconvenient as I have to do that for each GT6 node...

I've contacted support, but all I've got back was a message that such problem was not received/registered and recommendation to hope that it will be fixed in one of next firmware releases.

Small update - it seems that turning LED lights on/off doesn't work only on secondary node. I can turn LED lights on/off and change lights style on primary node (holding for 3 seconds to turn LED on/off, and 1 second - to change LED style). Unfortunately secondary node is the one that sits in kids room...

Sounds like configuration sync bug.

Hi @typhoon2k ,

Regarding the WPS button issue you're experiencing, we recommend trying the following steps:

  1. Update the router firmware: Please ensure that your router firmware is up-to-date. Older firmware versions may have bugs that affect the WPS function. You can refer to the router manual or visit the official website to check for firmware updates. ROG Rapture GT6 | Gaming networking|ROG - Republic of Gamers|ROG Global
  2. Restore factory settings: If the problem persists after updating the firmware, we recommend that you restore the router to its factory settings. This will clear all custom settings and restore the router to its initial state.
  3. Restart devices: Please try turning off and on the devices you're connected to (e.g., mobile phone, computer) and the router. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary connection issues.

If the above methods do not resolve your issue, we recommend that you send your router to the nearest authorized service center for further inspection and repair. Thank you.

Providing detailed device specifications (MB/CPU/GPU/PSU, etc.) and the respective driver versions, OS version, and BIOS version will help us analyze the issue more effectively.

Hey @Aureliannn_ROG ,

thanks for your hints!

I'm on the latest version of firmware already and tried device restarts/reset. Unfortunately that didn't help.

I've also contacted support and their reply was that it is how it works (that this is a feature, not a bug). I can speculate here that it was done for some WPS security reasons OR it's just because WPS button configuration is not sync'ed to other nodes in mesh.

I've asked to submit feature request, perhaps it will be implemented one day.

Meanwhile some folks on this forum proposed to try to change WPS button configuration on that node before joining mesh. It is a bit inconvenient, but I'll give it a try.
