Hello, my router froze up overnight, so I rebooted it, and ever since the logs are showing that it is going OOM about every 10 minutes. First it starts spamming:
May 17 10:44:26 kernel: [ 5872.720019] wlan: [0:E:QDF] NBUF alloc failed 12107B @ dp_get_ppdu_desc:3430

Then it looks like a high memory killer kicks in and kills a process called asd:

Looking back at when the router locked up initially overnight, it seems like it tried to look for a firmware update automatically around 4am, (which is strange because I have auto updates turned off), then started spamming the 'NBUF alloc failed' message:

I have the exact same issue. It also started this morning May 17th 2023. Everything was good with this router and I haven't touched any settings but same as OP, last night I had a failed FW update (I also have auto-update disabled) and then since then I get the same NBUF failed to allocate leading to out of memory error. Usually when this happens I lose WIFI, but I keep LAN/WAN. This happens almost exactly 10 minutes after rebooting the router. Everything will work for 10 minutes, then I get the above errors and lose WIFI and webinterface access to the router.
I have tried to do a factory reset and restore configuration from file but this didn't help.

I have the exact same issues with the same error logs.
05-17-2023 11:13 AM
I also noticed this exact behavior on my AX89X this morning. It continues after a factory reset.
05-17-2023 11:16 AM
Same issue. Works OK for about 10 minutes after reboot, then loses WIFI and Web Interface to router. Factory reset does not help.
No problems previous to today, seems like some update overnight broke everyone's routers?
05-17-2023 11:30 AM
same issue here. Found this thread by the searching the log message just before the wlan crashes. My router is still passing packets on eth. Only the wifi goes down.

have you contacted ASUS? I'm having the same issue. So weird.
