ROG Rapture GT-BE98 restarting wifi every minute

Shoonay

Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_34372 updated a couple of weeks ago, this started all of a sudden today around 16:50 or so and kept reconnecting my wifi devices and connecting them back and reconnecting...

I have gone through my log for the Pro version of the Router.  In May, I see some of those entries but no such sequence shows up.  In August, I see no such entries.

I normally keep the auto update turned off, so I may not show such things.  You might try turning auto updates off on your system to see if anything changes.

Are the times you show in your listing the times when you do auto updates?

I do see "waitting" appears to be misspelled.  Your listing does not appear to show any entries regarding your Wi-Fi radios which are normally referenced with an ethX number..

I have firmware auto updates off I don't think that's the issue.

I remembered trying on MLO that day, but turned it off cause I don't have any wifi7 compatible hardware yet.

Here's more of my logs, can't upload the whole syslog.txt file it's almost 1MB big

I am not the best option for someone to check your logs.  If you submit a feedback, you can include your log with that.  If you do so, I suggest you clear the log first and try to capture just the most recent situation.

But one thing I notice is the following.  I do not know if this is involved in your situation, but considering you mentioned the problem started after you enabled MLO, it could be.

Aug 7 16:48:45 kernel: [wl_cfg80211_del_iface]: dhd1 - MLO is not DOWN

Hi @Shoonay ,

Thank you for providing detailed information.

To better assist you with the Wi-Fi instability issue on your ROG Rapture GT-BE98 router, we would like to confirm the following:

  1. Overheating: Is the router placed in a well-ventilated environment? Is the surface temperature of the router too high? Are the vents blocked?
  2. Network environment: Are there any other wireless devices or electrical appliances nearby that may cause interference?
Have you tried moving the router to a different location?

We recommend that you try the following initial troubleshooting steps:

  • Restore factory settings: This can rule out issues caused by incorrect configuration.
  • Rollback firmware: If you have a backup, try rolling back to a previously stable firmware version.
  • Check temperature: Ensure the router is in a well-ventilated environment.
  • Simplify network settings: Turn off unnecessary services to reduce system load.
  • Change Wi-Fi channel: Avoid interference from other wireless networks.

To further analyze the problem, please provide the following information:

  1. Router network settings: How is your router currently connected to the Internet? (e.g., via fiber, ADSL)
Please provide the connection method for each port of the router (e.g., LAN1 connected to computer, WAN port connected to Modem).
What is the specification of the network cable you are using?
  2. Log information: Please send us a private message with your product serial number, problem report submission time, problem report email, and the time when the problem occurred.

Your cooperation will help us locate the problem more quickly.
Thank you.

Providing detailed device specifications (MB/CPU/GPU/PSU, etc.) and the respective driver versions, OS version, and BIOS version will help us analyze the issue more effectively.

How do I check the temperature? Surely such an expensive router should have a dedicated page in settings to show that, doesn't it?

1. I'm pretty sure it's not overheating, I keep it in a dedicated room, in a corner on top of a shelf, with a 120mm Noctua fan lying on it.

2. It's the same location I kept my wifi devices for... 10+ years now, almost in the center of my house.

I will not be doing any restoring or rolling back firmware. I need my wifi all the time.

I can send the logs later in a private message if this forums allows ~1mb txt files.

Well, that's it with sending the logs in a private message, there's a character limit...

Hi @Shoonay ,

Thank you for providing the information.

  • Regarding the log file: You don't need to send us the complete log file. If you have confirmed that you have recorded the relevant logs, please provide the following information in a private message:
  1. Product serial number
  2. Problem report submission time
  3. Problem report email
  4. Time when the problem occurred
We will provide this information to our backend engineering team, and they will be able to query the logs you have recorded based on the information you provide.

To further clarify the issue, please help us confirm the following:

  1. Network connection: Are you currently connected to the router via wired or wireless network? If it is a wireless network, are you connected to the 2.5GHz or 5GHz band?
  2. When did the problem occur: Did this problem only start after you updated the firmware to 3.0.0.6.102_34372?
  3. Network architecture: Please provide a diagram of your current network architecture, such as how the router is connected to other devices (e.g.modem, switch).
  4. Reset router: We recommend that you try restoring the router to factory settings to see if the problem can be resolved. [Wireless Router] How to reset the router to factory default setting? | Official Support | ASUS Glob...

Your cooperation will help us locate the problem more quickly.
Thank you.

Providing detailed device specifications (MB/CPU/GPU/PSU, etc.) and the respective driver versions, OS version, and BIOS version will help us analyze the issue more effectively.

Okay, I've answered the above questions and provided the logs from the time the problem happened in the pm.
