ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 Pro to a 2.5 Gig Switch

Getting a new ROG Rapture GT-AX11000 Pro this week.  I also have an 8 port TP-Link 2.5G Switch.

Is there any DOWNSIDE to just using only the 1 2.5G LAN port  on the ROUTER connected to the switch and using the switch for my other 6 connections?  The UPSIDE for me is much cleaner wiring.  DO lose anything from doing that?  Is using the physical router ports any "better"?

Thanks!

Thank you.  That’s what I assumed but wasn’t sure if this router did anything “special” with the onboard ports    🙂

As long as you are happy for all the hosts on the switch to share that single 2.5G full duplex link to the WiFi and the Internet, there should be no downside of any significance.  What you describe is a very normal network topology.
