Did you mean:

ROG GT-BE98 CONCURRENT DEVICE LIMIT???

I saw another post HERE in this forum from @kerilstacey a few months back which essentially went unanswered (even after emailing?) because only a link to the device specs was posted, which does not list that information (unless I'm blind?)....I too would like to know the limit to the amount of devices the ROG GT-BE98 can have concurrently connected to it. I already had to upgrade a router due to concurrent device limitations. I easily have 50+ devices and its only going to increase. The main competitor that I'm looking at is the Nighthawk RS700S (which actually lists its device cap at 200), unless i can get this question actually answered.

So if not clear, the question is..."how many devices can be connected concurrently via wifi to the ROG GT-BE98?"

*Edit* Additionally, i would like to know the wifi footprint or coverage area?

Hi @nikeairtez ,

Thank you for your question. Regarding the number of devices that can be connected to a router simultaneously via Wi-Fi.

To provide a more accurate answer, could you please clarify the following:

  • Are you referring to a single band or the total of both bands?

Generally speaking, modern routers can theoretically handle dozens or even hundreds of simultaneous connections.

However, the actual number of devices that can be connected stably is influenced by various factors, including:

  • Channel interference: Nearby Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth devices, and other electronic devices can cause interference, affecting connection quality.
  • Device types: Different devices consume Wi-Fi signals differently, such as smartphones, tablets, and smart home devices.
  • Router performance: The router's CPU, memory, and other hardware resources, as well as the optimization of its firmware, will affect its ability to handle a large number of simultaneous connections.

In summary, connecting 50 devices is theoretically possible, but the actual performance may vary depending on the environment and devices.

Thank you.

Providing detailed device specifications (MB/CPU/GPU/PSU, etc.) and the respective driver versions, OS version, and BIOS version will help us analyze the issue more effectively.

I believe ASUS supports a larger area.  (EDIT-  BQ16 1-pk provides 4000 sq ft so since BE98 has external antennae should be a little larger).

I learned recently you can set the DHCP server to allot higher than 253 IPs, by changing the Subnet Mask setting.  That appears to be the limiting factor...

Whether things will slow down, and by how much, you'd have to try, but I guess it would be based on specs.  (The higher the specs, the more devices it can handle without lag)...

Settings example:

LAN IP of Router:  192.168.50.1

Subnet Mask:  255.255.255.0 (default)

DHCP range (default) 192.168.50.2 - 192.168.50.254

Subnet 255.255.254.0

DHCP range (default) 192.168.50.2 - 192.168.51.254

Subnet Mask 255.255.253.0

192.168.50.2 - 192.168.52.254

....
