QOS ASUS GT-AXE-11000

Hi All.

I am new to the scene here and looking for some advice, I recently bought the Asus Rog GT-AXE-11000 and find this this be a really good router apart from a couple of teething problems to start with when ICMP was on after a few days it would start to see 100% packet loss for some strange reason, Even trying to disable and enable ICMP would not work so it was ether a factory reset or i just left it and after a few days and a reboot it would start to work again, anyway i seem to have fixed this a few factory reset later.

My main issue now is i have a gigabit service 1gig down 120 up and runs perfect no packet loss, latency is rock bottom so happy with that now when QOS is active and set on adaptive QOS with bandwidth set to Auto no matter what ethernet port i use the PS5 speeds get restricted to 500 meg, but when i turn QOS off the speeds are around 900.

Ive also got an Xbox-series-X and run the same tests hard wired but this time with QOS on or off the speeds stay at 900 meg, i have also done the same tests with my Macbook with. no issues, so it seems with QOS enabled this effects the ps5 only so just wondering if anyone else had any similar issues hard wired only.

Router is on the latest firmware  3.0.0.4.388_23483-g39c7940 my thought on this is just disable QOS because of the speeds iam getting but i would rather have opinions on this first to see what maybe the best option. or advice.

Two ways to access ASUS support:

1 Under Advanced Settings -> Administration -> Feedback tab (on top) send a feedback report with as much data/details and explanation.

2 Contact tech support and tell them your issue.

I would definitely do the first and it may be worthwhile as yours is new to also do the 2nd.  (I have stopped calling and mostly do the first after 1 1/2 years of ownership I find myself more comfortable debugging on my own)…

Are you saying, if you ping an address, you are getting 100% packet loss?  This with the Google.com address in the network tools?

Do you show a time also and what might that be.  Possibly, LAN port 4 is the gaming port and should have a higher priority.  Otherwise, I do not have a PS5 to check.

Is your network one where you need to manage bandwidth and give priority to certain devices?

Hi Sorry No when i set up ICMP within the router then set up thinkbroadband monitor after a few days it seems to fall over and start showing 100 percent loss, and unable to ping in, Ive factory reset the router and it seems to be working again now.

As for the reductions of speeds on the PS5 when QOS is enabled this appears to be a bit weird so i enabled QOS and tested the ps5 again hard wired and got speeds around 500 meg hard wired, then disbaled QOS and ran the speed test again and got 900 meg.

Now if i enable QOS and run the same tests via an xbox the speeds stay at 900 meg, so i set up my TP-Link GX90 to see if i could replicate the same results same tests just a different router QOS on ps5 500 meg QOS off 900 meg, tested xbox no issues on or off 900 meg so i also tested my Asus laptop same tests no issues, so at this point because of the speeds iam leaving QOS off and have just put it down to maybe the PS5 has some sort of build in thing that auto lowers the speeds when QOS is enabled on any router, its no biggy i was just curious.

Wonder if 3.0.0.4.388.23801 addresses this….

Hi it appears the new firmware does not address the issue, it also appears ive lost ICMP again from around 2am this morning think broadband is showing 100% loss and unable to ping the router again. iam wondering whether theres a but of the router is defective, I can RMA so this could be an option
