Nothing connects to AI Mesh routers

Greeny_SA

Hi
I have an RT-AX88U plus 2 AX6000's as mesh nodes, they are both connected with 2.5G ethernet. I'm baffled though since basically nothing connects to the other nodes. The pic below, this is about 1.5m apart at most. Anyone have any advice, settings I might have messed up etc?

Hi @Greeny_SA ,

based on your issue, may I confirm whether you have make sure that both RT-AX88U and AX6000 is at the latest firmware version?

Have you set the channel bandwidth to default?

Make sure that the SSID (network name) and password are the same for all nodes to enable seamless roaming.

It is suggest that you can try disable smart connect, due to this feature can sometimes cause device to connect only to the main router.

Ensure that the Ethernet cables are properly connected and that the ports on the routers/nodes are functioning correctly.

You can also try to reset the router and nodes to factory default.

You can refer to the following FAQ:

Thank you.

Hi

I shall run down the list and confirm / provide what I can:
Firmware - current on all devices

SSID is the same as far as I can tell? But I can't actually see any ways to split them apart? For roaming, the only way I can get my phone to switch nodes is to disconnect from Wi-Fi, then reconnect and it usually connects to the closer one. Is that a setting I might have messed up?

Ok Smart Connect was on, so I have toggled that off and have set the SSID's both to the same name.

Ethernet cables should be fine, ran new Cat 6A cables to both units through walls and into ceilings then back down.

Funnily enough, 1 of the things connected to the Office one is on another ethernet which makes sense. But the other is the Nintendo Switch..... which is about 1 meter away from the 88U.

Have done numerous factory resets on them and did the set up again.

Trying it without the smart switch turned on so I will report back if anything changes.

Ok so for 1 day after turning the smart connect off, I had 18 things on the bedroom one and the rest on the main router. Still nothing on the Office one, but at least there was a split. Had a look today and everything is back onto just the main one. Colour me as confused 😞
