ASUS TUF Gaming A16 – ndis.sys Crash (Wi-Fi Driver Issue)

Hi all,

I’m having repeated ndis.sys crashes on my ASUS TUF Gaming A16 laptop. The system either bluescreens with SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (ndis.sys) or restarts into automatic repair.

Some details:

  • Laptop: ASUS TUF Gaming A16 (2024 model)
  • Wi-Fi Card: Realtek 8852BE Wireless LAN WiFi 6 PCI-E NIC
  • OS: Windows 11
  • The crash happens when I connect to Wi-Fi, especially faster/turbo modes.
  • Oddly, it works fine if I connect through my iPhone hotspot — no crashes at all.

What I’ve tried so far:

  • Multiple driver versions (old and new, directly from ASUS and Realtek).
  • SFC / DISM repairs.
  • Clean driver uninstall/reinstall.
  • System restore and repair attempts.

Nothing seems to permanently fix it.

Has anyone else faced this with Realtek Wi-Fi cards on the TUF Gaming A16? Could this be a hardware-level issue (power/compatibility) or strictly a driver problem? Would replacing the card with an Intel Wi-Fi module help?

Any advice or known stable driver versions would be super helpful!

I guess the first thing I'd suggest (if you haven't already) is to boot into Safe Mode with Networking to see if the issue goes away?

I'm having the same problem. I've tried most of what you've tried but I can't solve it. Even reinstalling Windows didn't help. I guess there's no problem connecting to some networks. When connecting to networks over 200 mbps, it gives a blue screen error.
