z690 Hero LED EC blank

Hello all,

I recently added in a control board in my system today between the front panel connector and the mainboard.

This was a simple addition for one of those network KVM controllers to be able to power on and off the system remotely.

After that I noticed the color on some of the lights looked off on my GPU block that is controlled by the motherboard.

I tried rebooting and then the ARGB LEDs would not come on at all anymore.

I have tried using the armoury crate uninstall tool and reinstall it and that did not help.

When clicking on the mainboard in the dashboard, it told me it needed to be updated.

All components of Armoury Crate were fully up to date though.

I then updated to the latest bios and the system was stuck on code 98 with just a black screen.

Left it like that for over 30 minutes with no change.

Turned it off and back on and it booted okay but I still had the issue with the RGB not working.

When I look in the bios, the LED EC field is blank.

I have tried flashing many versions of the bios and the latest one and it has not been able to fix that and get RGB working again.

I went back to 3302, 4001, and 4301 with no change in LED EC firmware. That is still showing blank and the RGB does not work.

I attempted setting up Armoury Crate on a clean install of Windows as well and that didn't help either.

Any idea on how I can fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @m9x3mos

Any more info on what exactly you’ve connected? Can you take some photos?

Does the RGB behave itself with it removed, or not? Can’t say I’ve come across a case like this before so hard to say anything for sure.

Hello,

I'll get a picture tomorrow with it running. Currently connected devices are down to the minimum. Just cpu, gpu, ssd, power 8 pin and 24 pin, and front panel connectors. Everything removed from other internal headers other than the fans. I have a corsair hub for those that also does temp for the loop but that has been disconnected for testing.

I removed the rgb for the fans and the gpu block so only thing would be the board lighting to see if that would come back.

Wasn't sure if something on the external rgb was bad causing the issue but that didn't seem to make a difference. Even with no other rgb connected the rog logo doesn't light up still.
