Hello guys, Happy new year!
I am starting the year with an issue regarding expo profile in my X870e Hero. I have the 9800x3d with one kit of 32gb Gskill 6000 cl30 which worked fine when i've comleted the build like 1 month and half ago. Expo was working fine, I was on bios 0606 for my motherboard and I had absolutly no issues. Few week ago I've got Cod BO6 and start playing and then I started seing crashing more and more, to the point where after a BSOD my gpu wasnt even detected, I had to reinstall the driver but it was still in the pc. Did a fresh install of W11 but no luck, same issues more and more. After some digging on reddit and here I've seen that the expo profile might cause these issues so i started testing the sticks one by one and I found that the ram is working with expo one by one, no issues were detected during tests. Both sticks were stable again and no problems in tests, BUT without expo. When i tried to enable that in bios, I would get intant bsod. I've updated to bios to 0706, did a clear CMOS and now, I am still using them at stock speeds but this time is a little different.
I've seen this issue on multiple people, when expo is enabled in bios 0706, it will not post at all. It will just push you into bios everytime you try and boot it. The only way I found to work (kinda) is it to activate expo profile from AMD Overclocking submenu and not from the Extremetweeker. Doing this, my pc restarted and memory training has began with code 15, everything looked fine but got the BSOD again.
At this point I don't know what to believe anymore if this is just a BIOS issue or RAM issue. The sticks are on the QVL list and they ran aboslutly fine before.

You need to remove the contact frame. There's no need for one on AM5. The stock retention mechanism works just fine. This is what will be causing your problem.

WIll try that and get back with an answer after. Only installed that because of the thermal paste not going everywhere but if it turns out that the cause of all of this was that piece of metal...

Hello @Silent_Scone
Changed the contact frame with the original one from the motherboard. Nothing changed, system will try and apply the expo settings but will shut down and restart showing the below image.

Companies like Noctua offer paste guards that effectively prevent this issue while preserving the stock retention mechanism. The fact you changed this would still indicate this as the potential catalyst if the system was stable prior to installation.
You can also try:
Navigating to the DRAM Timing Configuration page and try some of the a-die memory presets available. These profiles are there for your convenience when overclocking and offer some reasonable baselines for specific frequencies. You will need to set the DRAM Frequency manually.
You can also use USB Flashback to return to 0606 to see if the situation improves.

Hello @Silent_Scone
I am currently on 0606 which worked for me. Got some preseats in there but for 6200mhz, u say just to keep that and only change the 6200 to 6000 manually?
edit: did this, pc did the same thing restarting but didn’t reached that image…got stuck at code 2F had to reset cmos to get back into bios again…

Yes, you can use the 6200MT preset @6000MT.
You may need to contact your local CSC directly. If the system was otherwise stable prior to installing the contact frame, it's probably not possible to diagnose vicariously without the board being inspected.
