The error codes "00 15 46" on the ASUS X670E Hero motherboard typically suggest CPU recognition or initialization problems, potentially linked to hardware or firmware issues.

Troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check CPU and power connections.
  2. Reset CMOS settings.
  3. Test individual RAM sticks.
  4. Confirm CPU compatibility with BIOS version.
  5. Inspect the motherboard for physical damage.

If issues persist, contact ASUS support or seek professional help for further diagnosis.

Hello, @djdunn

Regarding the q-code you mentioned, it may indicate an issue with the CPU or memory.
We recommend referring to the "[Motherboard] Common Q-CODE(Error CODE) and Troubleshooting" section for AMD motherboards to confirm the corresponding troubleshooting steps for the q-code.
According to the ROG CROSSHAIR X670E HERO's QVL, the "KSM48E40BD8KM-32HM" part number is only supported for single-module memory configurations.

As per the "purchasing and installation guide," please avoid mixing DIMMs from different memory kits, even if they are the same brand and model.
We suggest installing a single module in DIMM_A2, clearing CMOS, and then checking again.

Thank you.

But the qvl in your screenshot says 1,2 socket configuration tho

And there is only 1 specific model of memory supported for more than 64 GB of ram?  Is something faulty with the board?

Hello, @djdunn

The "Socket support" field indicates the number of memory modules that can be simultaneously installed.
However, the KSM48E40BD8KM-32HM memory currently installed has a specification of 1 module in 1 kit.
Therefore, please follow the recommendations in the MB user manual for the installation positions of the slots and avoid mixing memory modules from different kits.
In the QVL for the ROG CROSSHAIR X670E HERO, there are other models with 2 modules in 1 kit or 4 modules in 1 kit, feel free to refer to them for additional options if needed.

Please ensure that you have carefully reviewed the relevant instructions in the "purchasing and installation guide.":

Thank you.

Either memory module Failed to post in the A2 slot as specified in the manual, and Both modules passed memtestx86

system ran then crashed, 00 15 46 code with dram led, fails to post, reset cmos fails to post, reseating ram fails to post. reflashing bios fails to post.

Hello, @djdunn

May I ask if you have referred to the "[Motherboard] Common Q-CODE (Error CODE) and Troubleshooting" section for AMD boards to ensure you've followed the appropriate troubleshooting steps for the Q-code?
Based on the error code you described, please attempt to reinstall the CPU and check for any bent pins on the CPU. If possible, we suggest cross-testing with different CPUs.
Meanwhile, may I inquire about your current BIOS version?
If you haven't updated to the latest version 1807 released on December 15, 2023, we recommend considering an update and clearing the CMOS before rechecking.

Thank you.

CPU is fine, reseated it, mobo pins are perfect.

Bios 1807.

Problem is intermittent, but won't stay on for more then 5-120 minutes, if powered off for several minutes it may post.

Sometimes it's just an instant reboot sometimes it crashes to qcode 00 15 46 with dram led.

Removed dram tested elsewhere with memtest86, passed twice, tested psu voltages passed there.

Hello, @djdunn

May I inquire whether you are currently able to boot into the system successfully?
If the issue persists, and considering that your Q-LED and Q-CODE indicate CPU or DRAM abnormalities, we recommend cross-testing with a different CPU or considering an RMA to further isolate potential problems.

Thank you.
