Hi,
i have an X670e EXTREME with ZEN4 7700X! This motherboard has been a pain since i got it.
One day beggining of September 2024 the PC wouldn't turn on! i unplugged it from the Power supply and replug it after 10 mins.
- It powered on and it said USB OVERCURRENT shutting down in 15 seconds.
- I removed all plugged in USB devices same result
- I pressed reset BIOS - same result
- I unplugged front USB connectors from the MOBO same result
- I Unpluuged USB connectors from the bottom of the MOBO same result.
I think there is an issue with the MOBO! Can you suggest any solution? I will have to do an RMA and it is not funny since MOBO;s are the most difficult part of the PC! you can change a chassis, you can get a new CPU, you can get a new or old GPU but MOBO is always there!
The PC is powered through a voltage regulator to protect from disturbances from the electrical grid. I checked all the usb ports to see if there are any notable dents but i didn't find any resemblance of dents!
I am pissed because i paid 1200€ for this MOBO and it has only caused me problems!
-QUestion: If i do RMA will i get the same MOBO? Not a downgrade like the HERO?
-Question: if the same is not available what is going to happen?
- I talked witht the online retailer where i bought it from and they told me to handle the RMA myself (i think they are required to handle it themselves.
I need help from ASUS! ASAP!!

Regarding your questions:
1) RMA replacement:
While I can't guarantee a specific replacement model, ASUS generally strives to provide a comparable or upgraded product. It's unlikely you'd receive a downgrade to the HERO.
2) Availability:
If the X670E EXTREME is unavailable, ASUS will likely offer an alternative from their lineup that closely matches its features and performance.
Additional troubleshooting steps:
1. Check for BIOS updates:
Ensure your BIOS is up-to-date. Sometimes, updates can address hardware compatibility issues.
2. Test with a different power supply:
A faulty power supply can sometimes cause USB overcurrent errors.
3. Try a different USB hub or peripherals:
If you're using any USB hubs or peripherals, try disconnecting them and testing the motherboard's native ports.
Regarding the RMA process:
It's unfortunate that the online retailer is making you handle the RMA yourself. I recommend reaching out to ASUS directly for assistance. They should be able to guide you through the process and provide support.

hi,
Thank you for the Update! I hope i won't have to downgrade. I took the PC to the retailer today. it seems i was clever enough and got my GPU/MOBO from a reputable reseller and he will take care of everything. i also contacted ASUS and got their troubleshoot and forwarded to the resseler's technical department and now i am waiting.
1: i thought about the PSU and will definitely be checked by the technicians.
2: there are NO USB connected on the MOBO. it shuts down on its own.
PS question if they make change to a new mobo X8870 is that an option?
