Hi all,
I recently purchased a StarTech high-quality PCIe USB 10Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 card and installed it on my Asus X570-F motherboard. However, I’ve noticed that one of the peripherals connected to it is experiencing power issues — the lights are dimming as if the power isn’t stable, and it’s been disconnecting frequently. The PCIe USB card has a SATA power connection, which I’ve connected directly to the PSU.
Interestingly, when I connect the same peripheral to the motherboard’s USB port, it works without any issues. I’ve already tested my PSU, and it seems to be in excellent condition with no apparent problems. I also don’t believe the PCIe USB card is faulty. Could this be related to PCIe Gen 4 compatibility? I’ve installed the latest BIOS update and the most recent AMD drivers.
For your information, i turned off in Windows for power saving for all the ports.
Any suggestions on what might be causing this or how to resolve it?
Thank you!

Hello mohammadov
Have you installed the driver for your usb card and checked for a firmware update?

Hi Nate152,
Thank you for your prompt reply. The driver was actually installed automatically by Windows. Startech mentioned it is ok if this happens. I have checked if there is an update from the windows side too.
Looking forward to hearing u back

Hello @mohammadov
In addition to installing the compatible driver version, you might also want to try cross-testing with different SATA power cables and checking for any potential slot or power limitations in the BIOS setting.
We also recommend verifying the compatibility between the device and the adapter card.
Thank you.

Thank you Jiaszz_ROG,
I am not sure if there is an option in the Asus x570-F if it has power limitations to any of the PCIE? it is already set to Gen.4 which is the max speed. I will test another sata cable. I have also updated the firmware. will check and report back.
