Balkalo
Level 7

I’m getting WHEA-Logger Event ID 2 (CPU TLB errors) on my new system, even at stock settings.

Specs:

  • ASUS ROG Crosshair X870E Hero (BIOS 1715 – AGESA 1.2.0.3g)

  • Ryzen 9 9950X3D

  • G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB 128 GB (2 × 64 GB, 6000 MHz EXPO)

  • RTX 5080, be quiet! Straight Power 12 1200 W, Arctic LF III 420 AIO

Below is a raw log of what I get

The computer ran ok, but after two weeks of use, yesterday I've had 2 freezes. One in idle and one after like 2 hours of playing Battlefiled 6. The screens simply froze and it was unresponsive to anything. From what I read only those errors are NOT ok and are degrading system peformance and they should be tackled.

Has anyone else encountered this?
Any advice on what I could try to fix it?

Hello,

Sorry for the late reply, but after trying a lot of stuff, I fixed it by eventually changing the CPU.
I belive the other one was broken, as after 2 weeks I had no issue or errors with this new one.

Hello @Balkalo

Thank you for reaching out to us and for providing the relevant specifications and context.
May I ask if this issue started after a BIOS update or following any hardware or software changes? After clearing CMOS and running the system with default BIOS settings (including EXPO disabled), does the WHEA-Logger Event ID 2 still occur?
Could you also check whether there are any bent pins on the CPU socket and see if reseating the CPU while ensuring the cooler is neither too loose nor too tight makes any difference?
If the issue persists, please help us further clarify your situation by sharing the following information:
- An image of the BIOS main page
- Windows Build Version (Settings → System → About) and a full screenshot of the Event Viewer or WHEA-Logger entry
- Full RAM part number (e.g., F5-5600J4040D24GX2-TZ5NR) and the currently used slots
- SSD brand, model, and current firmware version
If possible, a short video showing the issue would be very helpful for us to better understand the situation. When recording, please also capture the CPU/GPU/system load and temperature at the time. If the file is too large, you can upload it to a cloud drive and share the link (ensure that access permissions are enabled).

Thank you.
