I’m encountering an issue with my ASUS B550A motherboard where the system reboots automatically after I shut it down from Ubuntu. Through troubleshooting, I’ve identified that this seems to be related to the Wake on LAN feature. Here’s a detailed overview of the issue and the steps I’ve taken so far:
When shutting down from Ubuntu, the system powers off briefly but then reboots instead of staying powered off. I’ve discovered that disabling “Wake on PCIE” in the BIOS stops the reboots, and the system remains off as expected. However, I rely on Wake on LAN functionality, so disabling Wake on PCIE isn’t a viable long-term solution.
I have also tested this on Windows, and the shutdown works correctly there without the system rebooting. This issue only occurs when shutting down from Ubuntu.
Despite these steps, the system continues to reboot after shutdown from Ubuntu unless I disable Wake on PCIE, which isn’t ideal.
Could there be a firmware or compatibility issue with Wake on LAN settings on the B550A when using Linux-based systems? I’d appreciate any guidance on further steps or BIOS settings adjustments to resolve this while keeping Wake on LAN functionality enabled.

Hello @Reewd
Thank you for reaching out to us.
However, according to the ROG STRIX B550-A GAMING spec page, the supported operating system is Windows. Additionally, only drivers for Windows 10 or 11 are available on the support page.
Based on your situation, this issue does not occur under the Windows OS. It’s possible that power management, interface management, or driver compatibility in the current OS is causing the problem.
We recommend considering the use of a Windows OS to help rule out these factors.
Thank you.
