Tuf Gaming Z790 Pro Wifi bios issues

Ever since updating my Bios to 1662 and above, my system takes excessively long to boot up. It can hang on the Tuf Gaming boot screen sometimes for up to a minute before starting to load Windows 11. If I downgrade to to 1661 all works perfect. I have tried resetting Bios to factory default before and after the update but does not help. ASUS support was no help, they told me to wait for an updated Bios. I tried the 166 beta but it does the same thing.  I need some good suggestion.

I never actually set any of the drive up to use RAID drivers. I just installed the MVme drives and this is the config it set on it's own.

Hi @ducky124 I believe you have VMD enabled in BIOS and when you did the Windows installation, you loaded Intel RST drivers. This combination will convert all your access to the drives via the Intel RAID drivers instead of using the standard Windows drivers.

Since you do not use RAID, are you okay reinstalling Windows as a fresh clean install where you delete all the partitions and create a clean fresh install? If yes, then that would be something to give a try and this time make sure VMD is DISABLED in BIOS and do not load any drivers during Windows installation.

If you need help on how to properly create the Windows media as well as installing Windows, I have created a Video documenting it all. I can share with you if you need this information.

Reinstalling Windows is not an option. My problem is an ASUS issue,  going from one version of the BIOS to a newer one should not cause an issue like this. ASUS needs to fix this.

I have the TUF Gaming Z790 board with no problems. You could try replacing the CMOS battery since a battery having a low voltage can cause various boot problems. Also check you have one active boot partition set up on your PC since multiple partitions can cause boot delays.

I've moved the thread to ROG Care for the attention of service.

Please can you specify which M.2 slot you are using for the 990 Pro?

The suggestion made by Achugh to disable VMD  is a valid one for troubleshooting purposes, especially if you're not utilising RAID.

while it might be a valid one, reinstalling of Windows is not a practical solution. It took me a few days to do the initial setup. Again, when everything is working as expected before a BIOS update, and then updating after clearing the CMOS fails to solve the issue, this tells me it is an ASUS issue. Especially when downgrading solves the problem.

hey, Version 1802 of Bios is now available for ur board. do u test it?

That's a large jump in numbering. I'll update in a few weeks if I see no issues with it.

I am not seeing version 1802 on the website. The latest is 1666 which is a beta version that does not work for me
