TUF B650 Plus WiFi + 9800X3D - DRAM problem - cant boot a second time ?

Hello there,

i encounter a really weird problem: even when i find a seemingly working EXPO setting that boots correctly into windows, the system will not boot after shutting down completly and booting anew.

Its like the one time working paramters dont get accepted after shut down. Or they may not have been saved properly in the bios?

The red DRAM LED on the motherboards is permanently lit when the system fails to boot into windows the second time.

I have to hard reset via CMOS reset to get the pc in a working order - with default settings that is.

I have the newest bios (3072) installed.

Thanks

Admiral

Hello @AdmiralAthlon

Thank you for reaching out to us.
May I inquire if disabling Fast Startup or enabling Memory Context Restore has improved the cold boot situation after setting up overclocking?

Could you kindly provide the model and part number of the memory that is currently being installed, as well as the specific slot on the motherboard where it is installed? Is the Ai Overclock Tuner set to EXPO I?

Based on the situation you described, there may be instability related to memory overclocking.
In addition to recommending that you cross-test memory from the TUF GAMING B650-PLUS WIFI memory QVL, you may also try installing a single memory module in the DIMM_A1 slot. Once stable during overclocking, you can then install the second module or, alternatively, attempt manual adjustments to the overclocking parameters.
For related guidance, please refer to Memory Kits - Overclocking and What You May Not Know.

Thank you.

Due to the local holidays, my responses may be slightly delayed.
For any urgent cases, we recommend reaching out to your local service center for further assistance. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.

Hey there,

thanks for getting back on my topic.

It seems my 4 DRAMS are not in line with the memory QVL.

Enabling both options in the BIOS you recommended didnt help.

I replaced the 4 x 16 GB setup with 2 x 32 GB setup in accordance with the motherboards QVL.

Booting much faster now without the long "training session" during initial boot before. Even without active MCR.

Thanks again for your help

regards
