On dit qu’il faut connecter un câble PCIe pour carte graphique. Ok c’est simple, c’est un câble de plus à brancher à l’alimentation. Sauf qu’il ne mentionne pas qu’il s’agit d’une connexion pour la génération 5 à 600W,

Sur la recherche Internet de bing IA, il est question d’un connecteur EPS 12V 8 broches ou 4+4 broches. Et, que si je me connecte avec une alimentation ROG Thor 1200p à une carte graphique PCIE, je peux endommager la carte mère carte vidéo ou griller l’alimentation. Car, il s’agit d’une polarité différente, dont le ROG Thor 1200p n’a qu’une seule connexion PCIE pour carte graphique.
Il est donc nécessaire d’utiliser les ROG Thor 1200p2 ou 1000p2 par exemple, celles-ci sont compatibles avec les cartes mères Gen5.

1)  The 600w 12VHPWR cable connects to the the graphics card. You connect a standard 6-pin pcie power cable to the PD_12V_PWR connector.

2) The EPS 12v 8-pin (4+4 pin) cable connects to the cpu power connector marked A and B in the picture. Some motherboards have two of these.

1)  The 600w 12VHPWR cable connects to the the graphics card. You connect a standard 6-pin pcie power cable to the PD_12V_PWR connector.

Personally Asus Rog could have provided this cable with 8 pins and the other end with 6 pins for this specific connection.
Because the PCIe cable for graphics card having double connection in one 2x8 and the other end with 8 pins to connect it to the power supply intended for graphics card have another different polarity which can cause damage.
And, even if this 2x8 double connection cable can share one of the doubles at 1x2 and 1x6, the electrical polarity is not the right one for this 6 pin connection of the PWR.
And the instructions for use do not specify this.

Anyway, I have a Thor 1200P power supply and I don't have an additional slot for connecting a graphics card, I only have one. So in any case I would not have been able to connect this cable if it would have been provided in the motherboard. I have to buy a Thor 1200P2 or 1000P2 for example.

In the Tech Specs, it shows the ROG Thor 1200p as having 8x 8/6-pin PCIE cables.

You might have some PCIE cables that are 6+2 pin, you'd connect the 6-pin to the PD_12V_PWR connector.

Normally no, it is not the same connection, you need one side with 8 pins and the other end with 6 pins which do not have the same connection as that of the dual graphics card, (of which we can share 1x2 and 1x6). Also it fits poorly after testing by not turning on the PC, just testing once connected.

In the picture it's one cable. The cable on the right with the 8-pin connector goes to the psu, the cable on the left with 6-pins goes to the PD_12V_PWR connector.

Was it a tight fit?

If it's connected, this should give extra charging power to the USB-C Gen 2x2 port on your pc case.

See if charging is any faster with this port.

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the photo at number 3 indicates only one 6 pin cable, the photo indicates correctly. It's the description that missed crucial information, because normally the dual PCIe graphics card connection is for the graphics card and not on this 6-pin connection, they do not have the same connection polarity.
This will certainly work without problem, but risks frying the motherboard or the power supply little by little.

I am not the only one to have said that there is a bad translation, at least for French.

In any case, do not connect to the 8-pin power supply intended for the CPU, intended for the PSU cable, you must have access to a connection for a graphics card. And that Asus has not specified this particular intention. They say plug in a graphics card cable, but they could have added specific intent to that, although a PCIe graphics card cable doesn't fit properly into a PSU cable connection anyway, so hard to get wrong on this point I think.

Yes, normally the PCIE cables are for graphics cards, but ASUS chose a PCIE connection to add more charging power to the USB-C Gen 2x2 header, hence the faster charging for the USB-C Gen 2x2 port on your pc case.

In the past, they used the same 6-pin PCIE power connector to add more power to the motherboard PCIE X16 slots when using more than two graphics cards. In fact, the older ROG Maximus V Extreme had this connector, I had a 6-pin PCIE power cable connected to it for running three GTX 680's.

I'm not seeing any problem as the PD_12V_PWR connector is designed to use any 6-pin PCIE power cable, whether it's a standard 6-pin PCIE cable or a 6+2 pin PCIE cable, either will work without issue.
