Strix Z790-H built-in RGB extremely faint, almost not visible

I have my new system setup but I'm really not pleased with the built-in RGB on my Strix Z790-H mobo. It basically consists of the ROG symbol and Republic of Gamers text on the upper I/O shield. At first I didn't think it was working at all. Later I realized that it's just so very faint that it's completely drowned out by the Asus TUF Gaming TF120 exhaust fan that sits right next to it. If I turn the lighting on my case fans and my Kraken Elite RGB 360 AIO completely off, and the room is dark, I can barely make out an extremely faint glow. I can change the colors and see that they're changing, so I know they're working. They're just too faint to see if there's anything else in the case lit or too much ambient light.

I've heard far too many negatives about Armoury Crate, so I haven't even seriously considered installing it. I'm controlling my lighting via SignalRGB and it seems to do well with everything except for the mobo. Everything hooked up through the mobo, my memory, my TUF Gaming case fans, even my ROG Herculx GPU Anti-Sag Bracket all work fine and are plenty bright. It's just the mobo itself that is so faint. Also, I'm just assuming that this is the only RGB on the board. Everything is so faint that it's hard to tell. If there's anything else, I'm completely missing it.

Is this normal for this board?

Hello, @bfollowell

Due to the ongoing local holidays in our area, my response time may experience delays.
I apologize for any inconvenience the delayed replies may have caused.

May I ask if you are referring to the less prominent RGB lighting circled in the image on the motherboard?

We would recommend using Armoury Crate for custom adjustments.
For further guidance, please refer to [Motherboard] Armoury Crate - Introduction.
If you have any replacement or return requests, we suggest reaching out to your original place of purchase promptly.

Thank you.

sharing complete hardware info & software config details will help us better understand the issue 🙂

Yes, this is the area that I was referring to.

It is lit, but you can't tell that it is lit if anything else in the case is lit, because it's so dim that any other fan/AIO radiator lights drown it out. I have heard and read far too many horror stories about Armoury Crate; the problems that many users are having and what a resource hog the application is, that I am extremely reluctant to even install it. I'm currently controlling my RGB with SignalRGB and am having no issues other than the motherboard light being so dim that it cannot be seen. I can change the color and effects, but since I really can't see it unless I turn everything else completely off, it really makes little difference. There does not appear to be any way to adjust the brightness of the motherboard. I'm not sure that it would be worth it to me to install Armoury Crate even if I could control the brightness of the motherboard, but can you tell me if this is possible?
