Strange noise when testing SSD with Samsung Magican

A week ago a strange smell appeared for a few minutes, then disappeared without a trace. Everything is fine on all benchmarks. Temperatures are good. But is this from the pump or the motherboard?
Honestly, I'm worried it's from a capacitor
Or it's very possible it's even from the pump, because there are clearly problems with the circuit's argb which is static

Hi @adrifoxbg

Hard to tell from the video, however, it sounds like piezoelectric noise - so you'd be right to assume the caps. The audible sound is caused by the interaction of components and the current fluctuations during load transitioning.

As most AIOs run the pumps at max speed, there's not likely to be any fluctuation in operating noise when putting the system under load. If the installed AIO allows for pump control, you can set it to max and see if the noise persists.

Either way, I personally wouldn't be worried about anything unless noticing system performance problems.

The pump is running at maximum speed, something over 3000 +
There was no such problem before I updated these new firmware updated from your official page:

[ ASUS ][ USB4 PCIE GEN4 CARD ] PD Firmware Version 110_Windows_Update Tool 2

[ ASUS ][ USB4 PCIE GEN4 CARD ] 4242 Firmware Version 1022_Windows_Update Tool

PD firmware Update Tool V104

I hope it's not something related to that.
And this smell? It must be from something?
There are no problems in benchmarks, but during the game when switching from menu to menu, there is a slight delay
When starting basic things, I feel how the cooling increases its speed, which means that the temperature rises sharply
The SSD is in the 2.2 slot, that is, under the video card, there is no sound from the PSU, the pump is under warranty but according to the store from which it was purchased, it was fine, and the backlight is clearly something wrong with the circuit. But the problem is not in some lights, it's not a Christmas tree after all, but how well it functions.
If it's not from the pump, the processor hardly makes any sounds, there is only one thing left, some capacitor, which is also closely related to smells

This is my second ASUS motherboard, I have another HERO sitting in its box because some service center somehow found that I have crooked pins on the socket.
If I have a problem with this one too, imagine my disappointment.

It's a consolation that the motherboard is under warranty until 2027, but if there's a leaking capacitor that's poisoning me with sulfur, it's not a nice bonus to the high price.

Why did you download this update USB4 PCIE GEN4 CARD?

Do you use such an adapter card?

this PD firmware update tool V104 is for when you want to connect and use a monitor via USB-C, as far as I have read it correctly.

So if you don't use a USB-C monitor or a USB4 PCIE GEN4 CARD, you don't need these updates because you don't use any hardware for them.

Intel Core i7 13700K / AiO Fractal Design Lumen S36 v2 RGB / Asus Rog Strix Z790-F Gaming WIFI / Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR5-5600 64GB (4x 16GB) / Asus TUF RTX 4070 ti OC / 4x Samsung 980 pro 1TB / Seasonic Prime GX 850 W Gold / Fractal Design Meshify 2 Lite RGB Black TG Light Tint / Monitor AOC Q27G2S/EU (WQHD)

Not really, but they were there and I decided to install them.
They are on the official website anyway and I don't believe it's a mistake that they were installed.

It makes no sense to install firmware if the corresponding hardware is not available. I am amazed that the firmware update went through without any errors.

Normally it should have noticed whether the USB PCIE GEN4 CARD is installed or not.

But everyone has their own preferences.

But I don't think that it is the cause of your actual problem with the SSD test.

Intel Core i7 13700K / AiO Fractal Design Lumen S36 v2 RGB / Asus Rog Strix Z790-F Gaming WIFI / Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR5-5600 64GB (4x 16GB) / Asus TUF RTX 4070 ti OC / 4x Samsung 980 pro 1TB / Seasonic Prime GX 850 W Gold / Fractal Design Meshify 2 Lite RGB Black TG Light Tint / Monitor AOC Q27G2S/EU (WQHD)

Me too, it's just a company, part of the software.
It doesn't hurt to have an Android phone and not use half the functions, they are still there, this is hardly a problem since it is official ASUS software.
Now I removed the external video card which is quite old 1050 ti strix oc and this noise is gone.
Was it a coil on the GPU or because of the less power supply required and the load on the VRM there is no such problem?

It could of course be that the GPU was making this noise.
But in your SSD test, the GPU itself is not under full load, etc.
But if the noise goes away when you remove it, then you have found the cause.

Actually, ASUS kindly told me to send the motherboard to them for testing and inspection and possible repair, but with the holidays approaching, everything will be slower than normal.
I still think that if there was a faulty capacitor, it would affect the performance of the machine, right?

P.S.

I'm shocked to see the same benchmark results with the 770 GPU on the Intel 13900K
And the machine is much quieter
There's clearly a serious bottleneck

I wouldn't be surprised if the smell was also from the video card.

How is this possible man, with IGPU I get a result of 36540 on the first attempt of Cinebench R23

Well, now that I think about it, this video card was hot, it rarely went below 40 degrees, and it's close to the pump and the processor
And a gen 5 motherboard, a gen 3 video card ...

The smell could have been anything, TBH. On new components such as PSUs and certain brands of other components, the flux has a burn-in period you'll be able to smell.

If the system appears to be functioning normally I wouldn't be concerned. To me, it sounds like normal piezoelectric noise.
