ROG Z690 Formula/ALC 4082 issue with Minecraft and driver

Welpit
Level 7

While using my Z690 Formula motherboard, which features an ALC 4082 audio chip, I found out that it has issue with Minecraft and driver.

My steps:

  1. I bought a new computer, and installed Windows 11, and all drivers from ROG website.
  2. I found out that the audio will drop after the system goes into sleep mode, which is that the wired keyboard light is on, and the motherboard OLED screen is NOT playing shutdown animation (very important) (if the shutdown animation is played, but the system is not shutdown, no problem will be encountered)
  3. I tried to download the audio patches Welpit_0-1721946305023.png, (USB Audio FW Update Tool, ALC4080/ALC4082 audio FW update tool release) but it does not resolve the issue, rather it completely removed my audio driver, making it unusable at all.

  4. I clean-reinstalled Windows, and everything works fine.
  5. After using it for one week, I tried to install the driver (Realtek USB Audio Driver VB6.3.9600.2342 For Windows 10/11 64-bit.) without the patches, everything works fine except for MInecraft Bedrock Edition.
  6. When I open Minecraft Bedrock Edition, the audio will just simply drop, and when Setting app is opened, it will freeze if you click on the Realtek USB Audio section in Sound.
  7. When Minercraft Bedrock Edition is closed, Setting app will become normal after around 10 seconds.

Steps to solve the problem:

  1. If you newly install Windows, do not download the driver, this will make everything work soomothly.
  2. For the Minecraft issue, put the system into sleep mode, preferbably the "OLED screen with shutdown animation and wired keyboard light off, and the system can wake up from an USB pheripheral click (keyboard or mouse click).

Things to verify:

  1. The Z690 Formula features a free DTS Sound Certificate, I am not sure if you only install the .appxbundle, whether or not can you get the Certificate

Hello @Welpit ,

Thank you for sharing, and we apologize for the delayed response.
Based on your description, has the issue of losing audio after entering sleep mode been resolved with the steps you shared, or does it still occur every time the system goes to sleep, requiring you to repeat the solution steps?
Have you checked if ErP Ready is set to [Disabled] in the BIOS or if there are any related restrictions in the system’s power management settings?

According to your recent update, when installing the VB6.3.9600.2342 driver, does the audio issue occur only in Minecraft?
If so, does adjusting the settings resolve the problem?

Thank you.

The sleeping issue is resolved.

When ErP is set to disabled, the issue still occurs with Minecraft.

Up until now, I don’t find any other applications/programs with the same issue as Minecraft.

Hello @Welpit

Based on your description, where the audio drop issue occurs only in Minecraft and not with other software or usage scenarios, it may be related to software settings or compatibility.
We recommend checking the relevant settings within the game, ensuring that you have the latest game or Windows updates, reinstalling the game, or contacting the game provider for further configuration assistance.
If needed, you can refer to "Minecraft Bedrock breaks audio on Windows 11" to check if the related setup steps are helpful for you, or search for discussions about audio issues in relevant forums.

Thank you.
