Hi everyone,
I want to build a PC for design and modding purposes.
I want to use the x670e hero (1), because the looks of it fit with my build theme. I got myself an EKWB Active Backplate Set for the strix 3080/90 (2) and dont no if it would fit in the PCIE1x16 slot, because there is a giant heastink for the pcie5.0 m.2 slot.
Can I just put the GPU in the PCIE2x16 slot or would I then be limited to just x8 lanes, if I plug nothing into the PCIE1x16 slot?
Or could I just use a smaller Heatsink like this one (3) on the top m.2 slot and still use the GPU in the PCIE1x16 slot?

Hello, @Cactus33
Thank you for reaching out to us.
According to the ROG CROSSHAIR X670E HERO user manual, if you are installing only one GPU, we recommend installing it in the PCIEX16_1 slot.
For PC builds, if you require assistance, please consider starting a discussion thread in HARDWARE & BUILD ADVICE or the AMD 600 Series section.
Thank you.

Hello, @Jiaszzz_ROG
Thank you for texting back 🙂
But I just wanted to know, if the second x16 slot is wired up with full 16 lanes or just with 8. I can't install the GPU in the first slot, because of the large heatsink on the M.2_1 slot. The heatsink is to tall, to mount a Waterblock with active Backplate. I would need 15mm of clearence, measured from the middle of the 1st x16 slot.
Thanks
