ROG STRIX Z790-I Gaming WIFI + i7 13700k overheats after bios update

Hello there. I have ROG STRIX Z790-I Gaming WiFi, Intel i7 13700K and NXZT Kraken x63 280mm. After updating the bios, my processor started overheating constantly even under low load. It started to consume more even at Idle. Is there any way to lower the temperature and not lose performance?

After update without test:

Hi @DarkMessiah,

170w to 253w is not a low load state. The newer BIOS follows Intel loadline recommendations closely at Intel Default. The result is slightly elevated voltage and temperature under certain workloads/conditions. Previously, the CPU would have been undervolted. It might be worth first remounting the CPU cooler and reapplying the thermal paste application. The cooler should be capable of cooling the CPUs 253W TDP even with the increased loadline.

To revert the SVID behaviour to what you would have previously been accustomed to:

Enter the UEFI:
Disable IA CEP and SE CEP

Set SVID Behaviour to Typical.

I've already replaced the thermal paste and even added a contact frame from thermal grizzly for CPU.

With these I get unstable behavoiur :'( Some programs start and close after a few seconds (pycharm for example). If I switch on XMP, all programmes start working, but after a while I get BSOD 😞
