Hello everyone! I have a problem with my PC, more precisely the Motherboard.
The problem is when I shut down the PC. It won't power up at all from the power button or reset or anything, unless I reset the CMOS from the button at the back. Then I get into the BIOS, everything looks OK and if I change anything and try to save the settings, the PC shuts down to reset and cannot be powered up by the power button or anything else. The cycle repeats if I reset the CMOS. The only way to get the PC to start normally into Windows is to not change anything in the BIOS so it only restarts(not shut down) and then it loads normally. I've updated the BIOS to 1501. I was on 1402 before, tried with 1303 as well, still the same. Tried the flashback from USB, tried the flashback from the BIOS: all results are the same. The moment the PC needs to shutdown(even when updating the BIOS itself) it doesn't boot up. I have to reset the CMOS. What I notice is that the flashback LED keeps blinking even when I don't have a USB inserted in the flashback port or haven't pressed the flashback button after rebooting the PC.
I swapped the PSU - it wasn't it. I did a test on the RAM - it was fine, 0 errors. The Q-LED shows everything is fine when the PC boots up. I ran the tests without the GPU so it isn't that. I tried a minimum configuration with nothing external connected: only CPU, RAM, PSU and Motherboard - all the same. I also swapped the CMOS battery - no change.
My configuration:
Motherboard - ROG STRIX Z790-F GAMING WiFi
CPU - Intel Corei7 13700K
GPU - NVIDIA RTX 4090
PSU - ROG-THOR-1000P2-GAMING 1000W
RAM - Kingston Fury Renegade 6400 DDR5 32GB
OS - Windows 11 (all updated)

I had the same issue with my motherboard I had to have it rma'd. They sent me a refurbished board and one week after this board went in I had the same problem all over again mind you the first board worked fine for almost a year.....I'm just as mind boggled as you all of my system software works perfectly fine in my old setup excluded the motherboard. So it's definitely motherboard issues....hope that helps...

I have the exact same problem except I haven't returned it yet. Everything works perfectly and did so for almost a year, but then the Motherboard did this.

Im having the exact same issue have replaced the power supply and im still having the same issue the only way i can get the pc to boot is by switching off the power at the back and then back on and quickly pressing the power button. It must be a faulty motherboard im starting to think, ive tried replacing the PSU rolling back the bios nothing seems to help. Did you manage to find a fix?

I haven't found a fix yet unfortunately. If I don't soon I will return it.

May I ask if you have initiated a repair request at this time?
If not, we suggest trying to replace the CMOS battery and cross-testing the PSU and memory.
Meanwhile, please refer to [Motherboard] Troubleshooting - No Power/No Boot/No Display and test with minimal components to isolate the possible cause.

i've got the e version of strix, i think my issue also started to happen since the last update of windows, 4 or 5 days ago my pc turned it on itself for maybe an intel me update? i dont really know. but when it turned on there was that "ami" default bios screen on that monitor. since i had to deal with other stuff i haven't checked it right away. when i back to my computer the it(pc) was powered off. now it can't even boot, like pressing power button(same for power button on mb itself) does nothing at all. i tried doing flashback but i think the usb wasn't in mbr or partitioned correct, i had three blink then a solid green. i tried with correct usb now the flashback led won't even turn on. only thing powered on the motherboard is that illuminated rog logo. i think the motherboard got bricked.

Due to some time zone differences and version releases, if you are still experiencing boot issues, we recommend updating to the latest BIOS version, clearing CMOS first, and trying booting under BIOS default settings.
If the issue persists, kindly provide us with your motherboard model, BIOS version, the duration after the assembly of this build when the issue first occurred, the troubleshooting steps that have been attempted, and a video of the boot failure scenario (including any Q-LED indicators, fan activity, etc.) for further investigation.

This has nothing to do with bios version or updating bios. The board simply randomly just fails to turn on without “clear cmos” button. In other words something on the board fails to receive power via the “jfp1” panel header. So you cannot turn the board on via power button or by jumping the connectors. The BIOS FLBK led continuously flashes when the board is off as well. When I managed to get into windows initially I could see there was an issue with the TPM module according to windows security. So it could also be related to this. Since then I have returned the Z790-A Strix (DDR5 variant) to Amazon (UK) and replaced with the Z790 Strix A Gaming WiFi II. Haven’t had any problems since. If this board exhibits the same behaviour one year from now I’ll send this back as well and avoid ASUS altogether as it would then imply to me that your QC has gone down the drain completely. Haven’t seen any MSI or Gigabyte motherboards exhibit such behaviour after extensive research.
