Rog Strix Z790-E doesnt detect the 1080 Ti GPU.

Hello. A month ago, I bought the motherboard mentioned in the title, and while I was waiting for it to be delivered, my RTX 3090 broke. So, I used a nearly new 1080 Ti that I had in a second PC, but it turns out that the motherboard doesn’t detect it. I tried many things: changing cables, using another power supply, moving it from one PC to another, and the strange thing is that the graphics card works perfectly fine. The problem is that the motherboard doesn't want to recognize it at all; it’s as if nothing is connected, but it does detect another GPU like a ROG 980 Platinum Matrix. I don’t know how to solve this problem, as at the moment I’m almost forced to use the 1080 ti, and I can’t get it to work with the new components I bought. I’m very disappointed. Honestly, if I had known this was going to happen, and that there might be incompatibility with certain GPUs, I wouldn’t have bought this motherboard, aside from the issue I had with the 3090. HELP!

Hello @SchneiderRod

We apologize for the delayed response due to the recent local holiday.
Could you please confirm if your current ROG STRIX Z790-E GAMING WIFI is on the latest 2503 BIOS version?
May I ask, when the 1080TI GPU is not recognized, does the scenario involve being able to power on, the RGB on the motherboard light on, the fans spinning after pressing the power button, but no display output via the GPU? Are there any Q-LED indicators or Q-codes showing at this time?
Have you tried installing the GPU directly into all three PCIe slots without using extension cables or adapters, but it still couldn’t be detected?

Since the PCIe slots are 5.0 and 4.0, is there any difference if adjusting the slot settings to [GEN3] in the BIOS?
Typically, you can verify the corresponding slot and settings in BIOS > Advanced Mode > Advanced > PCH Configuration.

Thank you.

Hi @Jiaszzz_ROG . YES it was the first thing I did after building the PC. It is updated to the latest version 2503.
