Hello Erik75

According to your memory part number, you purchased two separate 32GB memory sticks. This is not recommended and in most cases will present problems, but you may get lucky and get them both to work.

The first and easiest thing to try is....

Make sure you have a mouse, keyboard and monitor connected.

Power down your pc, install one memory stick in the A-2 slot (second slot from the cpu). Press and hold the clear cmos button for 3 seconds then try booting up.

If it's still not booting, update the bios using the bios flashback feature, if you need help with this just say so.

Hello Nate152,

Thank you I just updated to B!ios 2703 or it still was already 2703?? I cannot check (8 minute via USB stick) same issue...I now have tested with another 1000 W power supply. No luck.

To be positive at least the bios update seems to work on my Strix  🙂

Do I need a mouse connected? Still all black and yellow led at Strix -> monitor and HDMi cable already tested -> ok but black.

What is the best compatible ram for my Z690-A Wifi?

Thanks in advance for your help

I personally use 16GB (2x8GB) Kingston Fury Beast 6000MT/s cl40 in my ROG Strix Z690-F Gaming WiFi with the 12700KF cpu. Don't go purchasing more ram, what you have is on Kingston's QVL list and should work.

Memory for a ASUS - ROG STRIX Z690-A GAMING WIFI - Kingston Technology

I don't think it's mandatory to have a mouse connected for booting, but you do want a keyboard to navigate the bios and a monitor connected.

Let's confirm if the bios update was successful. Did the blinking light get faster as it went and then stop when finished? It should take approximately a minute and a half for the bios update to complete.

Also, have you cleared the cmos with the clear cmos button?

Hello Nate152,

Thanks again for your help. I did the Bios update (2703) again. 3 times long blinking then fast blinking for 3 or 4 minutes then black = done. Then I cleared the cmos again ->with trigger and then with removing  the cr 2032 and reinstalling the CR 2032 . Still black screen and yellow light. Then I installed my new RTX 3050 at the PCI slot and plugged the HDMI cable to the RTX. Same again yellow LED and black screen no setup.  Any further ideas?

Thanks in advance for your help

You're welcome.

So, after updating the bios and clearing the cmos, it still hangs on the yellow Dram light when trying to boot.

Have you connected the 8-pin pcie power cable to your RTX 3050?

Have you connected the 8-pin cpu power cable to the motherboard?

I recorded a video just to make sure you renamed the bios file and done it correctly.

If you've done this and everything is connected properly, the problem could be due to an overtightened cpu cooler or bent cpu socket pins.

You can try loosening the cooler slightly and see if this gets it to boot. If it doesn't boot, remove the cpu cooler and inspect the cpu socket with a magnifying glass or a good camera, you can post a picture of the cpu socket if you like.

Hello Nate152,

Yes Bios updated and CMOS already cleared. Yes still yellow LED. My Strix Z690-A has two 8 pin CPU connectors at the mainboard. Yes already done. I will check cpu cooler bolts and cpu socket on the weekend. Additionall I can try a different RAM 2x16 GB on Saturday.

Thanks in advance for your help

Hello to all, luckily I can write these words on my new ROG...

The solution: I replaced the  2x kingston kvr48U40BD8-32 with 2 Crucial 8 GB CT8G48C40US.M4A1.

Turned on -> and 🙂 not black and bios

Rocksolid board with the crucial ram! So QVL list  with the Kingston?????? All 2 kinston on all slots or one alone always all black.

So it works now.

Greetings to all!

Thank you Nate152

You're welcome.

I'm surprised the Kingston memory didn't work since it was on their QVL list, but great to hear you're up and running with a new set of Crucial memory.
