ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI randomly hangs on BIOS after Windows 11 reboot

I recently bought the ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI and have a 9800x3D. Everything works fine (gaming/workstation stability, Windows shutdown/boot etc), except randomly a PC reboot (from Windows update for example) for a from Windows causes the BIOS to hang, with the case fans all running at high RPM. I have the latest BIOS installed 'version 1003' and all latest Windows 11 updates. The motherboard code appears to be 0d. I have installed all the Asus drivers except for the LAN adaptor which was causing massive packet drops (as reported on these forums already). I installed the Realtech LAN adapter to correct this.

My PC specs are:

  • Asus ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI
  • AMD 9800x3D
  • 64GB DDR5 (2x32GB) Corsair 6000MT/s Dominator Titanium
  • 2TB Samsung 990 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD
  • Antec FLUX-PRO-BK Black Full Tower Case
  • 1200 Watt NZXT C1200 Gold ATX 3.1 Gen5 Black Power Supply
  • Thermaltake TOUGHLIQUID 420 EX Pro Magnetic Connect ARGB Liquid Cooler
  • 2x other Samsung M.2 SSDs

I'm tried:
- Different RAM profiles
- Uninstalling Armor Create

I'm stuck how to fix this issue, and any advice would be appreciated.

Hello @LeonJ

Thank you for reaching out to us. We apologize for the delayed response due to a public holiday in our region and any inconvenience this may have caused.
Could you please clarify if this issue occurred after the PC was first built or after using it for some time and occurred following any recent changes, such as a Windows update or component replacement?
Based on the situation you described, the issue may be related to the system failing to pass POST during a reboot or a potential problem with the boot drive.
Please try clearing CMOS and booting without any manual BIOS settings, and also try disabling Fast Boot in the BIOS and Fast Startup in the OS before checking again.
Regarding the Q-code 0d, in addition to referring to the user manual to ensure that all hardware is correctly installed, please ensure that the drivers provided on the official website, including the AMD Chipset Driver, are properly installed and up to date.
If the issue persists, we recommend performing a minimal hardware configuration test by removing the chassis and keeping only the CPU, a single RAM module installed in the DIMM_A2 slot, and the PSU on the motherboard to further isolate potential hardware problems.

Thank you.
