Hi ASUS Support Team,
I've had an ROG STRIX X670E-E WIFI for almost 2 years now. Its was a bit tricky to setup, but i had it stable for awhile. This last month however I've been encountering persistent system instability, BSODs, and issues with basic system functionality despite extensive troubleshooting. I swapped to a completely new Motherboard and CPU and im still getting the same errors. Below is a detailed summary of my hardware configuration, steps taken to diagnose the problem, and findings. Would appreciate any support you can offer.
Hardware Configuration:
Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E GAMING WIFI
Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 9900X
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 (latest RTX drivers installed)
Memory: 64GB (2x32GB, DDR5, confirmed compatible and tested)
PSU: Corsair RM1000x
Primary Storage: 2x Samsung 970 Evo plus (2TB) 2x WD_BLACK SN770 (2TB) 1x Samsung 990 PRO (4TB)
OS: Windows 11 Pro (fresh install, multiple attempts)
Cooling: NZXT Kraken (temperature monitored during stress tests)
Summary of Issues
BSODs - Frequent and unpredictable BSODs with error messages with "Critical Process Died" during normal usage.
System32 Accessibility Issues - After fresh Windows installations, the system intermittently loses access to essential System32 files, causing crashes or rendering the system unusable.
LAN Connectivity Loss - LAN connection took and then became intermittently unavailable, failing outright.Windows 11 Pro was installed three times using verified installation media. Each installation resulted in different issues such like (Windows 11 Installation Failed, or straight up not detecting my NVME's)
NVME disappearing - My samsung NVME's are healthy and tested well in other computers but no matter how many formats it will not initialize
I stress tested using PassMark BurnInTest for CPU, GPU, and memory completed without errors, confirming these components are not the issue (or at least I believe they are not)
Steps Taken to Diagnose the Problem:
BIOS Updates and Configuration - Updated BIOS to the latest version available for the ASUS ROG STRIX X870E-E WIFI.
Reset BIOS to default settings and configured manually to rule out overclocking (e.g., disabled XMP/DOCP, Precision Boost Overdrive).
Verified Secure Boot, TPM 2.0, and UEFI boot mode settings were correctly configured.
Windows Installation and Software Configuration - Performed a full wipe and clean reinstall of Windows 11 Pro three times using verified installation media.
Installed drivers in the recommended order - AMD chipset drivers -NVIDIA GPU drivers - Storage and LAN/Wi-Fi drivers from ASUS support.
Verified updates for Windows, firmware, and essential drivers. Disabled Fast Startup and Hibernation and ensured System32 permissions and configurations were correct.
Results
Despite the extensive troubleshooting and multiple clean installations of Windows 11 Pro, the system continues to pose unpredictable and problems, BSOD, LAN connectivity remains unstable or non-functional, and system crashes persist.
These persistent issues strongly suggest an underlying fault with the ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-F WIFI motherboard. I"ve been at this for two weeks now and im getting really fed up.
There is nothing to RMA and i feel like this is a BIOS related update issue or Windows 11 update issue.
I have seen other people with very similar issues in the last month posting here and they are also unresolved so it feels like we are just waiting for the big heads over there to fix this for us.

Hello @Christo64
Thank you for reaching out to us.
According to the description, the issue persists after cross-testing the motherboard, and you have ruled out abnormalities with the CPU, GPU, and memory.
The Critical Process Died BSOD is typically caused by an incompatible or corrupted driver or a critical Windows process abruptly ending.
Physical damage to the hard drive or SSD, such as bad sectors, could prevent System32 files from being correctly written during installation or read correctly during use. Additionally, firmware updates may be required, or there could be a possibility of malicious software.
Issues like NVMe disappearing and failing to initialize can stem from various factors such as power management constraints, slot anomalies, SSD issues, PCIe mode settings in BIOS, or incompatibility between the file system of the OS and the partition format or size of the current hard drive.
Apart from recommending updating the BIOS, clearing CMOS, or cross-testing the slots, we suggest removing all drives and cross-testing with a completely new system disk to isolate any potential issues.
Regarding LAN issues, considering your discussion in another thread about similar troubleshooting steps with SSDs, we recommend first addressing any instability with the system disk before installing drivers from the official website and checking the LAN status.
Thank you.

likewise, i have rog strix b550-f gaming wifi model and ryzen 9 3900x, rtx 3070, since the day i bought it i have been struggling with event 10016, distributedcom error, sudden shutdown, countless BSODs, all versions of windows 10 and 11, 4 rams tested separately, separate ssd hdd, i realized that i should never buy an asus product again. on reddit and other forums, it is stated that asus and amd incompatibility and chronic driver problems are struggling, epic anti cheat application or armory utilities shut down, reset the computers and cause frequent BSOD crashes. in short, asus says do whatever you want after selling it,
