Hi, i just purchased a RTX 5080 for my setup, everything working fine but

i can't run the gpu at Pcie x16 5.0, its working x16 4.0,

M2_1 @ Im using GEN3 SSD, this lane controlling by chipset
M2_2 @ 980 PRO which is supports GEN5 and direct lane from CPU

It looks like PCIE lanes should be enough for X16 5.0 but its not working.
16 lanes for GPU, 4 flanes or M2 GEN5, 4 lanes for USB4 and 4 lanes for chipset
or am i calculating wrong?

I have exactly same problem with 5090 and ASUS prime x670e pro WiFi , 7800x3d . Checked everything, bios setup update , shifting disc to different slot. But there was some problem with ASUS x670e mother boards in past , it was information as they are PCIe 5.0 x16 just on paper but we couldn’t check it as new GPUs with 5.0  are on the market from few days. I’m waiting for new drivers from nVidia as there are problems as well but looks like ASUS motherboards might be problem.

Hello @rtxgtxrxstrix
Thank you for reaching out to us.
Regarding the motherboard specifications, you may refer to the ROG STRIX X670E-I GAMING WIFI official website or user manual for confirmation, and indeed, the PCIe slot is 5.0 x16.

Could you please provide your current BIOS and VBIOS versions? If they have not been updated, we recommend updating them and clearing CMOS before checking again. Please ensure that the GPU is installed directly onto the motherboard without using a riser cable or adapter.
If needed, you may also try setting the PCIe slot to [Gen5] in the BIOS to see if there is any difference. Alternatively, we would also suggest cross-testing with another PCIe 5.0 GPU.

Thank you.

Im using the latest bios ( 3207 ), and also did clear cmos, installed gpu again. Im not using any riser cable, gpu insallted directly to mobo.

its look like pcie lane problem, but 24 lanes should be enought for 1xgpu and 2x ssd in my opinion.

Its hard to find anoter pcie 5.0 gpu right now: )

Has anyone figured out a solution?

I have an x670e hero paired with a 5090, latest bios (2904), latest GPU driver also stuck on PCIE 4.0.  I do have 4 GEN4 SSDs in all M.2 slots.  Is that the issue?

Hi , I sorted my problem , all what I  did it was instal a little bit older bios on motherboard and PCIe 5.0 x16 is working properly.

I solved my problem, the fps card which is came with motherboard has a pcie switch, it got 3 mode right is pcie 3.0 middle 4.0 , auto is support to gen 5 and others, that switch was on the middle, it means its forcing motherboard to run pcie 4.0, dunno why its on middle but when switch it to auto its all good now

Thanks for the responses.  I was able to resolve my issue by setting "Alteration Mode Switch"  which is located in "Advanced\Onboard Devices Configuration" from "PCIE Link Speed" to "Fan Profile".  I have no idea what that setting does, nor why it worked.
