ROG STRIX B850-F Sleep Mode issue

Hello everyone! I have been having this issue that I cannot wrap my head around. My Motherboard automatically shuts off when I enter sleep mode. when I try to wake it up, pressing on the keyboard or moving the mouse does nothing so when I click the power button to wake it, it wakes up as if it was shut down. it goes through the couple seconds of memory training and then when I log into my OS all my windows that usually open up when I shut down my pc and turn it back on starting opening. I am not on the same screen as where I left off.

I am convinced it is this mobo because I went back to my gigabyte motherbard and it was not doing that issue.. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue with this motherboard?

I am currently using it with a 9800X3D. It did the same thing with my 7800X3D

Sounds like ECO power plan is on. Its Entering S4 State. Change the plan to any different one available.

S0 - On / Working
The computer is powered up. If supported, power conservation is handled by each device.

S1 - Sleep
CPU is stopped. RAM maintains power. Everything else is off, or in low power mode.

S2 - Sleep
CPU has no power. RAM maintains power. Everything else is off, or in low power mode.

S3 - Standby
CPU has no power. RAM maintains power, refreshes slowly. Power supply reduces power. This level might be referred to as “Save to RAM.” Windows enters this level when in standby.

S4 - Hibernate
Power to most hardware is shut off. Any files in memory are saved to the hard disk in a temporary file. If configured, the NIC will remain on for WOL or AoL. This level is also known as “Save to disk.”

S5 - Off
Everything is off. No files are saved. If configured, the NIC will maintain power to listen for WOL (magic) packets. This is known as a shutdown.

I also have this issue, Eco Mode is disabled/off.

If the Efficiency mode option is greyed out, it generally means that it’s a core Windows process and throttling it might affect the performance of the system.

Mine isn’t greyed out. Just disabled.

Hard to diagnose hands free

Did you check this?

Right-click on Start and select Device Manager.
Go to the Keyboards section and click on the arrow next to it, to expand it.
Select the default or connected keyboard and right-click on it. Then, select Properties from the context menu.
Switch to the Power Management tab and check to see if the box for Allow this device to wake up the computer. If Not Check it.
Apply the changes
Do the same in Mice and other pointing devices section, check Allow this device to wake the computer option for HID-compliant mice.
close Device Manager.
Reboot and test sleep

Thanks, I misunderstood what you were asking. I went through powercfg and it indicates just about everything you could imagine is set to wake the machine; keyboard mice WiFi ethernet, etc.

I really think this is some kind of issue with the firmware and sleep states. I could create a whole new post and run you through all the steps I've taken, but pretty much I've replaced everything at least once - except my peripherials which worked fine on a previous Asus board - and this sleep issue continues to occur.
I'm guessing it's some kind of hardware combination unique to me and the others having this issue. Some of us have QVL RAM, some don't, some share my PSU and others don't, some have RGB, some don't, same processor, etc.

In just an hour I'm going to discombobulate all my USB devices and plug in a simple USB mouse and keyboard to rule that out.
If not, I guess I'll just never let my machine sleep until a firmware or AGESA revision fixes it.

Available sleep states list as admin in command prompt."powercfg –availablesleepstates"

One Last Thing Disable Fast Startup (if they hid it) "Powercfg -h off" as admin in command prompt. Also Turn Off Hybrid Sleep. Windows Goofs Want Pc's To Act Like Macs. Bright Idea UGH...

Let me know how you make out.👌

It’s my RAM. It isn’t on the QVL list, additionally.
It’s a 64 gig kit with pretty tight timings at 6000M/T. Everything they list is looser and slower by a large margin.

It’s sleeping with one stick installed on the JEDEC profile. Either stick works.
Great.

Whoops
