Hi team,
Just wondering if anyone can help with an issue I'm having. I conducted a BIOS update to Version 3702 a few days ago and it failed. I'm not sure why, it took me to the BIOS update screen and then did its thing, ending with a BIOS update completed prompt followed by a restart request. I actioned the restart and its completely cooked the motherboard.
I can't seem to get any output from either the graphics card or the motherboard integrated graphics. I have tried so far:
None of which have worked. I have tried calling the ASUS Support number on my warranty card, unfortunately they said that no technician can assist with Motherboards and I need to send an email. I've done that and the technician who has emailed me back has been next to completely useless as the warrantly on my motherboard expired 4 months ago.
What are my next steps or is that it?

UPDATE: Am now getting a DRAM error light on the motherboard (Solid Orange). I've tried:
I think I'm going to call it, I'll never buy ASUS again because the technical support has been woeful and replacing the CMOS Battery was so unbelievably difficult it was clear they did not consider a user to do this.

Hi @AdrianO1
ROG Care section is monitored by customer service, you've posted this in general build advice. I can move the post for you.
Firstly, it would seem like potentially a bad flash. Did you revert the system to Optimised Defaults before updating [removing any potential overclocking instability].
Any reason why you didn't use USBFlashback? You can do so now to attempt a reflash, or flashback to the previous build.
Before running the USB BIOS Flashback tool, please rename the BIOS file (SB550IG.CAP) using BIOSRenamer.

Hi,
I'm sorry, I have also tried the USB Flashback, it was the first thing I did and it did not work unfortunately, I also used the renaming tool to no avail. I got a USB, reformatted it to FAT32, downloaded Version 3702, extracted to the USB and renamed.
Plugged it into the back of the PC, rebooted, and unfortunately nothing.
Thanks for your help though. I've updated my original post

For the "normal" flash of the BIOS/UEFI, I would not use the FlashBack connection on the motherboard, but simply a USB connection where the USB stick with the update is plugged in.
Then go to the UEFI and run the update via Ez-Flash.
Renaming the update file is only necessary for the FalshBack as far as I know.
How do you come to the conclusion that the motherboard is now defective or that the update was unsuccessful?
You were notified that the update was successful, weren't you?
The UEFI updates from Asus usually reset the UEFI/Bios after the update has been completed and you are actually prompted to go to the BIOS/UEFI after the restart, etc.
This means that all the settings you made are gone and have to be reset.
If you no longer have any image output at all after the update (neither via the CPU nor the GPU), it seems to be stuck somewhere else.
In addition, the motherboard does NOT have an integrated GPU, that would be from the CPU. If you use an AMD CPU without an integrated CPU, you won't see anything if you want to use the motherboard connections.
So you can only use the separately installed GPU.
But since you haven't listed your hardware exactly, it's difficult to help.

I'm sorry but maybe I haven't made myself clear, I cannot go into the UEFI because I have no way of providing any input into the Motherboard. Like I said, after the restart the Motherboard displayed a DRAM error, the only thing that changed between then was restarting after the update. Hence, my assumption that it was the update that's caused the issue

Hello @AdrianO1
Regarding the issue you described, as mentioned in the previous suggestions, could you confirm which BIOS version was installed prior to updating to version 3702? Would updating to a different BIOS version potentially yield different results?
Typically, a failed BIOS update requires repair services for resolution.
However, based on your description, the solid DRAM indicator suggests that the default parameters after the BIOS update may have affected memory stability, resulting in the inability to boot. Alternatively, the issue could stem from the CPU, such as bent pins or improper installation.
In addition to attempting to update to other BIOS versions or reviewing the user manual to ensure all hardware is properly installed, we recommend cross-testing with memory modules listed on the ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING QVL.
Thank you.

Thanks for confirming, I've moved the post to ROG Care. It's still a possibility of it being the CPU, you may want to see if you can take the system to a sys integrator as they'll be able to diagnose this for you. Rather than purchase new components unknowingly.
