the manual for the motherboard says it can take 1,2,4,8 & 16gb ddr4 ram sticks.
but is that absolute, or because at the time (not sure if so) 32gb were not available?
anyone used 32gb (ram sticks that is) on this mb? yes, older, but still good and in "top tier" for x99 chipset.
cpu used is; Intel Core i7 6850K
thinking about a final upgrade and would swap out existing (64gb) 16gb set, for a (128gb) 32gb one.

Hello @Khoros88
Thank you for reaching out to us.
According to the Tech Specs page for the ROG RAMPAGE V EDITION 10, the motherboard supports up to 8 x DIMM memory slots with a maximum capacity of 128GB.
For memory selection, we recommend referring to the X99 Series DRAM QVL for i7 69xx/68xx processors as your current CPU is the i7 6850K, as well as the Purchasing and Installation Guide available on the Memory / Device Support page.

Thank you.

i will buy a corsair kit and see what's what, at great expense to me.
btw, this is due to dimm_d1 failing on mb, so not happy. yes, it is the actual dimm slot that went bad a few months back, not the ram. so yeah, an asus (top tier) mb has a bad dimm slot. the only saving grace is i can run remaining 3 slots just fine, but am now forced to spend BIG (and as of now at huge gamble) to keep 64gb (or if it works got even higher to 96 - but not 128 since one main dimm slot is bad.
tbc??
