ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO TVB

Hello,

I watched jaytwocents video regarding the bios update 2502/2503 for the intel 13/14th gen bios microcode update. After reviewing his video, I noticed that my TVB was not setting like his to throttle his CPU back (I am still hitting 100c on occasion while gaming. The TVB settings are all 0 across the board, even after the update using the updated intel profile with bios update v2503. My intel 14900k died due to voltage/oxidation issue and they didn't have replacements for the 14900k CPU so I bought a 13900ks not sure if that was the best idea (amazon was sold out) local best buy I don't buy from, probably should of went with a 12900k. Should the TVB be set like it is in jaytwocents video

Hi,

The TVB behaviour may differ depending on the active profile, CPU SKU and motherboard. However, 100c whilst gaming is incredibly warm for a 360mm radiator. Have you considered checking your CPU mount and TIM application?

Hello,

I went ahead and set the intel profile to performance and svid to typical and it seems to be pretty good. I am now in the 45-60c range while gaming. But I feel like I'm holding back my CPU. Do you recommend any other settings to get the most out of my 13900ks. Possibly other AIO's as well.

Thank you

How do you mean you "feel"? Is there a noticeable loss in performance?

By keeping CEP enabled (it's enabled when using Intel Default Profiles) and manually altering the SVID / ACLL behaviour the system performance may become hindered in high current workloads. If concerned about disabling some of the default protective mechanisms, you can always test game performance objectively to see if there's a tangable performance loss.

Sorry for the late reply, my fps drops like crazy playing world of warcraft. I have noticed that some of my cores drop to 800mhz I have updated the bios to 2602 as the latest. Everything is intel default, profile extreme as its a 13900ks, I did change SVID to typical. Default svid was auto and my vcore was showing 1.3-1.45. But my cores still drop while playing games creating laggy environments, while my friend dont experience this on older machines.

As above, if wanting to alter SVID behaviour on Intel Default profiles you will need to disable CEP to avoid any abnormal performance.

Well i'll give somethings a try, I put back the intel fail safe and ran a bench in cpu-z, My cooler is a nzxt 360 aio. I have a new AIO coming monday from EK. Hopefully that helps. I'll also try disabling CEP and changing the power profile.

Thanks.
