Prior to updating to the latest BIOS my BIOS start times were sub 13 seconds on a restart, after this latest update to 2503 and 0x129 my Bios start time is +16 seconds with the same settings. This delay is even more pronounced when I try and access my bios using delete or F2 it appears to continue doing something in the back ground and takes an absolute age to get into the settings. Previously it was near instantaneous to get into the bios settings. Has anyone else experienced these sorts of issues or any pointers ?

Not sure why results are so different. I see a definite improvement. As I stated, it is nearly as fast as 2402. I am about 20 seconds to windows desktop from power on when before I was around 15 seconds. The previous two BIOS versions were nearly one minute. I will stick with this one since going back to 2402 only improves boot time by a little. This is acceptable for me, and I get the latest microcode.

I had a similar experience. On 2402 it was 12 seconds. On 2503 and 2703 beta it was over a minute. Currently, the latest 2703 times are around 15-18 seconds. One thing surprised me is that with the default Intel BIOS settings, I did not have performance mode in the Current CPU core 307A tab. This caused random computer restarts and a thermal error in the Windows event log. In the report generated for the Intel report, the current processor voltage was 1.8!? Now I raised the Intel profile to extreme and 400A and it is normal. Something is screwed up in these bios.

I am seeing crashing to desktop and locking up in CounterStrike where before it was stable. I have reverted back to 2402 and all is good again.

I reflashed to Bios 2703 , still having crashes in CS2 but everything else is stable, I am going to persist with version 2703 as I would like the microcode. I am not sure if the CS2 crashes are related but will keep testing, I have even added my pagefile back, and cleared temp/junk files.

I wish they could make microcode a separate process and not have it linked to a specific bios.
I really only play two games. One occasionally and the other regularly and I am not having crashing issues with either so it is easier for me to stick with this one. If it was affecting games I play I might opt for the 2402 again, but this one is so close.

There are reasons why that's not always possible. Intel will often change some conditions in RC code that may break if the microcode isn't updated
