Hello, esteemed colleagues,
When saving a profile using the UEFI/BIOS feature to export a full set containing the BIOS configuration or exporting a specific profile to a USB device, it defaults to an extension with compiled or encrypted data. This data is recognized as application/octet-stream or binary by my operating systems.
I understand there may be multiple reasons for this format and why plaintext/XML isn't used. However, if a CMO export is all I have left of a profile and the data is lost, it's reasonable to assume there are tools, provided by Asus or otherwise, to make this data readable in plaintext.
If no such tool exists, I would like to request that Asus release one. There may be sensitive data in the file due to encryption, especially if an operating system is installed, or potentially intellectual property Asus doesn't want public. This makes it even more important for Asus to provide the tool, which I have not been able to locate. I've found suggestions and libraries that seem to contain tools for this, but before digging deeper, I thought I'd seek insights here, as I have three active gaming computers using Asus motherboards.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

In addition to F2, CTRL-F2 will save the settings in a readable form to a . txt file. Example attached.

Hello @Slimmbo
Thank you for reaching out to us.
In the BIOS\Advanced Mode\Tool\ASUS User Profile page, there is an option called "Load/Save Profile from/to USB Drive."
By connecting a USB device and navigating to this page, you can press [Ctrl+F2] to save the current BIOS settings, exporting your manually adjusted configuration as a.txt file.
Could you confirm if this feature meets your current needs?
Meanwhile, different BIOS versions or motherboard models may have slight variations in interfaces or features.
If you need further clarification on specific functions, please refer to the BIOS manual provided on the support page for that model on the official website, or feel free to share the full motherboard model for further assistance.
Thank you.
