Hi, yes ofcourse it;s possible, and quite easy to do. I have the X670E Gene motherboard and also wanted to upgrade to WiFi 7. The problem is that currently the only WiFi 7 chipset that is working on AMD systems is the Qualcomm NCM865, and the only option you have is to either buy just the NCM865 chipset alone and replace the one that your motherboard came with (just have to remove the rear IO heatsink to get to the card and carefully replace it with the new one) or buy a separate PCIe card (this is what I currently run myself) and install it on a free PCIe slot on your motherboards and then go through Device Manager and disablke the onboard card. Problem is the drivers for the Qualcom NCM865 are hard to find and not very regularly updated. I used the Windows Update Catalog and searched for them and got them through there (search for "FASTCONNECT 7800"), link here
If you choose to replace the onboard card you can get the NCM865 either through Aliexpress or eBay. But if you want to get the PCIe card instead, the only one currently available that uses this chipset is the MSI Herald-BE NCM865 WiFi 7 (This is what I currently use, but also have a stand alone NCM865 in case I find some time to take my system apart and replace the onboard one).
I found the above the hard way after buying the ASUS PCIe WifI 7 card first without ressearching, thinking it would be as always straight forward liek always has been and all wifi/BT chipset worked for all systems both Intel and AMD alike. Unfortunately this is not the case and still to this day the Intel chipset based cards do NOT work on AMD systems. I am hoping that AMD and Intel sort this out soon so i can use ethe Intel chipset at some point.
If you need any more specific help just ask.
P.S: the drivers on Windows Update Catalog are newer than the ones offered in the support page from MSI directly
