random shutoffs on B650E-I

SwiftKnight
Level 7

New to forum posting but I recently swapped over to the B650E-I mobo, and noticed way more recent and common shutoffs while trying to play video games of any kind really like Space Marines 2 which has shown to be problematic itself, but also on games like civ 6 where I never encountered shutoffs before, maybe game crashes but NEVER pc restarts. Tried researching a few things on my own and found the windows event viewer giving me 'kernel-power' event codes which, according to the internet, lead me to believe the psu can't handle the load? Before my mobo swap, i had an asrock z690m paired to an i5-12600k and 16gb ddr4 3200 ram and very seldomly encountered any random shutoffs so I'm a bit confused as to what may be going on. Aside from ram, mobo, and cpu everything about this computer is the same. Could it be something like overheating or something of the sort?

Hello @SwiftKnight

Could you please confirm if the auto-restart issue only occurs during gameplay and not during other usage scenarios or when idle? Is the kernel-power Event ID 41?
Have you been monitoring for possible overheating using software like Armoury Crate to track system or hardware temperatures?
We recommend updating the BIOS version, all relevant drivers, and firmware to the latest versions based on the situation.
Please also refer to the steps in [Windows 11/10] Troubleshooting - Automatic Shutdown/Restart Issues and the ROG STRIX B650E-I GAMING WIFI to ensure all hardware is connected correctly.
If you are using any adapters or extension cables to connect the PSU, SSD, or GPU, we suggest removing them during testing.
Additionally, if you have any manual BIOS settings enabled, such as EXPO, DOCP, or power adjustments, please clear CMOS and try booting with default BIOS settings to see if the issue persists.

Thank you.
