QCODE (Q Code) 53 on ROG Maximus Z790 Hero

There have been a bunch of posts about this but no real answer and I'm almost 100% sure this is software related (BIOS) but ROG is just telling me to RMA the board, which I don't really want to do given all the other threads with the same issue.

PROBLEM: Typically during reboots after any kind of update (Video card, windows, whatever), my POST will hang with a Q CODE 53 and orange light. I have to do a hard power off and then restart to get it to POST again, which forces a BIOS visit where all settings are fine and then restarts normally from there. I have run two different memory modules with the same result. I am on the newest BIOS and controller. I have tried all XMP profiles as well as AUTO. I can't get ASUS/ROG to actually troubleshoot with me outside of just "RMA the board".

Has anyone had any luck fixing this? It works perfectly and runs smoothly except for this issue, so while a nuisance, it's not really enough for me to want to take apart my entire build to most likely get another motherboard that will do the same exact thing.

MOBO: ROG Maximus Z790 HERO (1202 BIOS with updated controller per instructions on BIOS update)

I was wrong, still the same issue, lol.

Hi! Just delete completely Armoury Crate trought special software.

Hi RaiBinger,

Do you mean remove Armoury Crate and use G.Skill Software instead? If yes, I have already done so, but I still hope ASUS could fix this bug.

I would keep trying after every new BIOS released until it is fixed.

Thank you for the suggestion!

Wtf is this bug ? I tryed many times to restart my computer and for now it’s ok i don’t have any error code but if you have bug is this G-skill ram the problem?

Hi Superavageur,

After surveying threads about this issue, I think it has nothing to do with RAM brand...

I used two different approved ram brands, same issue

hi there, i had same issue here.

starting when armoury crate throw an notification about lag sync. and i saw my ram rgb was stop sync with other pheriperal.  and if i restart it mobo will stuck at q code 55 not 53.

it ever happend when xmp off also. and when i restart it can pass. but when i go to bios, and check extreme tweaker ram no option for xmp. but if  i shut down everything goin normal again.

happen with 2 type g.skill ram.  first i use G.Skill F5-6000J3238F16GX2-TZ5RN. after facing an issue i think ram not compatible with board coz this ram was amd expo feature. and i sold it and buy new one F5-6400J4048F24GX2-TZ5RK and still same issue happen. so is this normal issue for asus z790 hero board?

Hello!

I got same problem and I want to solve it.

Asus Rog Hero Z790 Maximus and G Skill DDR5 Trident Z5 RGB 64GB (2x32GB) 6400 CL32.

F5-6400J3239G32GX2-TZ5RK

As I have noticed, the RAM backlight hangs in freezes or starts stuttering if I turn on Armoury Crate or SignalRGB to control the whole pc's backlight. Also RAM STOPS being visible in ARMOURY CRATE, CPU - Z, HWMonitor, but shows up in Task Manager as if everything is normal. When trying to reboot the PC, it hangs and gives Q code 53. The only thing that helps is to turn off the power supply and turn the PC back on.

I removed ASUS AURA SYNC LIGHTING SERVICE from autostart and then the PC lit up with default backlighting, not tied to any software. In this case, no Q code 53 errors for 3 days.

I too thought the problem was in the bios and so I updated all versions sequentially and it didn't help.

Has removing Armoury Crate helped anyone with this problem?

Kkkanyonnn i try to droped the frequency to 6000 mhz and for now i solved my problem. You can try this solution but i ´m sure the problem is the bios.

Did You delete Armoury Crate from your pc and it didn't help?
